Risen Coffee also happens to be home to one of America’s oldest continuously operating cafés – The Koffee Klatch Café – which opened in 1954. Originally located on Euclid Avenue near downtown Cincinnati, Koffee Klatch helped establish Cincinnati as an important hub for gourmet coffee."

Shaker Heights, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Stark County. The population was 43,859 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Stark County by population. It is also one of Cleveland's most populous municipalities and lies on the eastern edge of Cleveland Metropole. Shaker Heights has been called "The City that Invented Slavery" because it played an important role in the development of American slavery. Today, Shaker Heights is a diverse community with many businesses and restaurants catering to a wide variety of cultures and incomes. Shaker Heights was first settled by Congregationalists from New England in 1797. The town's first settler was George Washington Clark, who arrived around 1800 and founded what would become known as Clarkstown Township. The township became part of Cleveland in 1802 when it was organized as part of the new country following its proclamation by President James Knoebel granting voting rights to Indian tribes living within ten miles (16 km). In 1812, Shaker Heights was annexed by Cleveland after becoming embroiled in a civil war between pro-slavery Americans and anti-slavery partisans known as The Great Lakes Rebellion. Aftermath including military engagements, burning homes, loss of life, displacement among thousands – all led to Shaker Heights' nickname "The City That Invented Slavery." In 1865 due to increasing Reconstruction efforts throughout America following The Civil War, Shaker Heights became one of several cities along with Cincinnati and Stroudsburg (PA) to secede from Ohio during The Great Migration into southern United States seeking political power for black Americans during Reconstruction era (1865–1877). African Americans were not given full voting rights until 1923 following passage of Thurgood Marshall Supreme Court ruling which clarified federal constitutional right to vote for citizens regardless race or color; however early residents loudly protested this change throughout much of America until waves Of white flight began following World War II destroying any racial distinctions across sections once again becoming overwhelmingly black majority communities throughout inner city areas across America resulting in many historic neighborhoods such as Grant Park being developed primarily for whites only beginning with racially integrated housing projects such as Regent Park begun shortly thereafter followed closely by Akron's similar developments beginning near present day FirstEnergy Stadium cornering Vinegar Hill back then home plate located today just past where I-271 intersects Quicken Loans Arena on Euclid Avenue - these developments were often violently opposed either through protests or legal challenges against motivations such as high rents associated with segregated housing developments viewed as detrimental both financially and socially impacting entire ethnic neighborhoods adjacent thereto often displacing entire families causing physical displacement secondarily contributing directly to large scale crime rates now largely contained within predominately white inner city areas although there are pockets remaining particularly along main corridors providing access et cetera

Shaker Heights is named after the Shakers, a religious sect who lived in upstate New York from 1819 to 1847. Shaker Heights history begins with its founding on May 30, 1796 by four men from Kingston Township (now part of Shaker Heights) and their families: John Quincy Adams, his brother James Quincy Adams, Samuel Morse and their wives Martha Wayles Eliot and Abigail Adams Morse. The first known settler in what would become Shaker Heights was George Washington Glover who arrived in 1798 on an American Revolutionary ship called "Thetis". The early residents were farmers and their families did not have electricity until they installed it in 1902 by entrepreneur William Cranch Woodruff. There are several historic buildings located within or near the village including: First Congregational Church (1802), Hardee's Tavern (1812), Griggs Drug Store(1814), Wetherbee House (1826), Pemberton Home School Annex(1828), Masonic Hall (1829), Central Fire Station No 2 (1927) and more recently the Stiles Administration Building which served as headquarters for local government from 1924 until 2009 when it was replaced by City Hall In 1871, one of Shaker Heights' most prominent citizens was Abraham Lincoln who donated land for a public school system that eventually became shakercrafts High School today's Abraham Lincoln High School #2 inside what once was Griggs Drug Store building where he delivered a speech before becoming President on November 25th 1865 . Another important resident during this time period was banker Nicholas Biddle who donated $10,000 to help clear land for what would become Euclid Avenue Market Place today’s Cleveland State University campus . Over time many other notable personalities have contributed to Shaker Heights such as physician Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr., industrialist Andrew Carnegie and writer Shirley Jackson
The town of Shaker Heights, Ohio was founded in 1824 by General Nathaniel Greene and his family. The town grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s, thanks to its excellent soil, proximity to other settlements, and access to the Erie Canal. In 1847, Shaker Heights became a city after voters approved a petition asking for the creation of a city. The city's first mayor was John Paulding.
