Salem, Ohio is a small town located in the eastern portion of the state of Ohio. The population of Salem was 9,951 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Salem has a rich history dating back to 1711 when General John Adams and his men founded the town on land that was donated by Colonel George Washington. In 1814, Salem became a village and in 1907 it became an incorporated town. Its tourist attractions include a replica courthouse built in 1898 and dedicated to Judge Samuel Chase who presided over trials during the 19th century;the reconstructed first Baptist Church from 1892;a Victorian-era hotel called The Green Gables;and four parks: Elmwood Park with its own golf course; Cumming Park with playgrounds and tennis courts; and North Park with picnic areas, basketball Courts/Lawn Mower Court (2005), running water (2007) as well as large lots for housing development beginning in 1950s In addition to its rich agricultural history Salem has come to be known for its unique architecture including two replica early American churches - one built in 1898 by local architect Edward Everett Hale while another building constructed between 1912-1914 by James Aitken Pope - both are still standing today providing tours that allow visitors to walk inside these lovely buildings It should also be noted that Salem has had some Notable citizens including three mayors - William Ewing (1964-1970), Gaylord Nelson (1974-1978), and D'Alessandro Cordone Jr.(2002-) all deceased at 90 years or older

Salem, Ohio is a town in Summit County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,403 at the 2010 census. The Unorganized Territory of western Ohio was located in this area and included Salem as well. In 1813, the village of Salem was founded by Noah Webster and others in what is now the city of Cincinnati. In 1824, Salem became a part of the newly organized state of Ohio. It had a population of 10,000 when it did so. At its peak in 1830-31, Salem had a population of 20,000 people; however, by 1840 its size had diminished to 5500 people due to migration from other parts of the state and from other towns within Summit County. More generally speaking though (and until recently), there has been little change or growth in the overall population density since 1830-31 given that there have been no major additions to the local area not due to annexation or migration by other residents or businesses (including neighboring cities). This lack of change may be related to one factor: during that time period very few new homes were built on rural square miles such as those around Salem because growth then proceeded more along urban lines which were easier and faster to achieve due largely to railroad construction across wider areas at that time. It should also be noted that while salems large numbers during some periods (~1800-1830) they have gradually decreased over time (-5% between 1850 & 1870 Census) likely reflecting increasingly smalltown lifestyle resulting from rapid industrialization adjacent thereto rather than any increase in crime rates or social problems unique to Salem
