The Riverside Air Force Base gift history can be traced back to World War II. The United States Military began considering the purchase of planes for use in the war when Congress passed the National Defense Act of 1944. This act allowed for the creation of a military aviation program and set out guidelines for how each branch of service was to operate within this program. One such guideline called for independent purchasing authority for each military department, which would allow the Air Force to purchase planes without prior approval from other branches. In 1945, the Air Force purchased its first plane- an F4U Corsair- and soon began operations in Europe. The plane was used in combat against Nazi Germany, flying missions over Normandy and Belgium as part of Operation Overlord. During these missions, it became known as “The Hurricane” due to its ability to fly at high speeds and provide cover while attacking targets. In 1946, the Air Force transferred ownership of its second Corsair to Greece during World War II as part of an agreement between Great Britain and America dating back to 1941- allowing American forces stationed in Europe access to British aircraft resources. In 1948, Congress passed another act that allowed American forces stationed overseas to receive Gift Certificates from their countries’ militaries in order to celebrate National Independence Day. These certificates were given as a thank you for support during wartime and were often presented by members of Congress alongside gifts received from their respective countries’ militaries. The Riverside AFB gift history begins with one such certificate awardedto Major General Harry Curtis on July 4th, 1948- marking the first time an American general had received such a gift from a European country during wartime hostilities. From then on, every American general stationed abroad received a Certificate honoring their nation’s independence day! Throughout the years there have been many changes occurwithin both civilian and military wings associated with air force deployments across different parts of our world operationally or civilly involved! However, no change has been more significant than what happened on September 11th 2001; when all Americans came together around our Flag and pledged allegiance unto Our Lord Jesus Christ! This event marked not only a momentous change within our society but also an opportunity whereby we could come together as one community UNITED IN SERVICE TO THE ONE GOD! We cannot forget where we came from or where we are going but instead pledge ourselves towards making AMERICA GREAT AGAIN BY CONTINUING TO SUPPORT OUR MILITARY AND CIVILIAN Airmen DURING ANY TYPE OF WAR OR DISASTER!!

Gavin as head of the Army Air Forces in response to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Riverside, Ohio is a small town located in the northwestern corner of the state of Ohio. The population was 5,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lima-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The largest employer in Riverside is the Riverside County Sheriff's Department which employs over 1,000 people. Other major employers include The Dow Jones Industrial Average Company and Northwest Ohio Regional Hospital. The first permanent settler in what is now Riverside was Isaac Rohrbaugh who arrived in 1792 with his family from Westphalia, Germany. He named his new community after himself and two other settlers: George Rohrbaugh and Solomon Rohrbaugh. In 1812, John Cretin settled here also and named it after him. By 1826, all settlements had been abandoned except for one house built by James Caldwell on land that he donated to the township in 1827. Riverside Township was organized on March 16, 1828 under an act of the General Assembly of Ohio. It consisted of a total area of just six square miles and included only parts of what are now Wadsworth Township and Riverside County today (although some areas were added later). Its first meeting took place on April 6th at Caldwell's home on North Main Street where trustees chose Drury as their Superintendent/Controller responsible for all business within their township including election day tasks such as tallying votes and printing ballots In 1830 when Indian Removal Act started there were already about 220 whites living in what is now Riverside County while only 10 black Americans lived here permanently

However, Riverside has seen sporadic economic revival over the past few decades due to shifts in its major industries. Today, Riverside is a modest town with a population of around 30,000 people.
The city of Riverside, Ohio was founded in 1796 by the merger of two villages, Westfield and Niles. The name was chosen to honor General George Washington's birthplace, Mount Vernon. In 1802, the village of Westfield merged with Riverside to form a single municipality. The first mayor of Riverside was John Hays.
