Coffee has been a part of the Richmond Heights community since before time. In 1837, John Broughton started trading coffee beans from his farm in western Wayne County with traders in Philadelphia. By 1840, coffee was being traded all over the country. The first store opened in Richmond Heights in 1881 and continued to be a mainstay for residents until it closed in 1978. Today, many people in Richmond Heights enjoy cup of Joe every morning or evening as a way to start their day or relax after work. Some have even become so fond of coffee that they've started their own businesses making and selling local roasts and flavors of coffee. In 1911, a group of men from Cleveland decided to open their own grocery store in Richmond Heights. It was the beginning of what would become one of the most successful grocery stores in town - Meineke's Grocery Inc. The store continued to operate until 1978 when it closed its doors for good after almost 60 years! Today, you can still find some remnants of Meineke's Grocery Inc on Superior Street near the intersection with Vance Avenue - just be sure not to walk into any door without knocking! The first Starbucks opened up shop on West Side Highway (now called State Route 7) across from Meineke's Grocery Inc., back in 1984! This location served as the launchpad for Starbucks Coffee Corporation which continues today as one of North America’s leading retail brands with more than 12,000 locations around the world!

The name change to Richmond Heights after the American Civil War occurred. In 1892, Richmond Heights had a school that year which became the first high school in Medina County. In 1905, it also had its own railway station which still exists today as an annex to nearby Lorain Avenue Station. Richmond Heights is located at (41.560902,-81.735621). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and consists of low hills and woods; whileLake Erie forms the eastern border of town.

Richmond Heights, Ohio was founded in 1788 by John and Jane Richmond. The village is located in the northwestern part of the state, on the border of Hardin County and Butler County. It lies about 8 miles east of Cincinnati, the state's largest city. The population of Richmond Heights at the time of its founding was 456 people. The Village was laid out in a grid pattern on land that had been donated by James Denny. Two churches were built within the first year: First Baptist Church, which served as a mission for many years, and Second Presbyterian Church, opened in 1792. At first there were no schools; however, after eight years a schoolhouse was erected and operated until 1827. In 1828-29 construction began on what is now known as Main Street Cemetery which became operational in 1830. In 1836-37 James Speed built an addition to his home at 514 Main Street which served as both a home and office for many years until it burned down in 1922. In 1865-66 he also built a two story frame barn on property now known as Fourth Avenue which still stands today. This barn is one of only two remaining examples from that era dating back to when Richmond Heights was primarily agricultural farming community with few permanent buildings other than simple dwellings around farmsteads or homespun stores/stores nearby
Richmond Heights was founded in 1788 as a small settlement on the edge of what is now Cincinnati. The area around Richmond Heights was originally part of the Northwest Indian Reserve, which was reserved for the Shawnee and other Native American nations. In 1811, President James K. Polk issued an executive order authorizing Congregational services to be offered in the area. The first church service was held in slaves’ quarters in Richmond Heights on October 9, 1811. In 1825, Richmond Heights became a Village and in 1830 it became a Township. The Township population grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its location near both Cincinnati and Dayton. residents developed businesses such as grocery stores and breweries along with homes that were often designed by local architects such as George Stephenson or Isaiah Thomas. In 1870, Richmond Heights approved a proposal by trustees to build a public school district that would serve all of Cincinnati including portions of North Side and Over-the-Rhine neighborhoods north of downtown. This new district served students from Beginnings through High School until 1957 when it merged with the city’s public school system under Mayor John Fenton Jr.'s plan called “Fentonization” which increased municipal funding for education while maintaining professionalized teaching methods across all levels of education within city government thereby creating more competition among schools within each district but also increasing accountability for results by parents and children who could see their schools improve over time During World War II, many farmers located near Richmond Heights turned to growing corn on their farms which led to increased traffic on Cook Road (now US 60) leading into town between 1922 and 1931 After World War II ended there was significant growth throughout much of northeastern Ohio thanks to Baby Boomers who began moving westward following graduation from college in the early 1960s
