The Reynoldsburg Air Force Base Museum is a Specialty Store located on the Edwards AFB Air Force Base. The museum tells the story of how air force gifts have helped shape the community and its culture for over 50 years. Reynoldsburg was named after General George Reynolds, Commandant of the Military Academy at West Point, in 1912. In 1969, Colonel John Fenton became Director of Education and Cultural Affairs for the Base. Colonel Fenton spearheaded development of the museum which opened to the public in 1984. Today, Reynoldsburg's history can be seen through its artifacts, exhibits, and oral histories collected from military personnel and civilians who have lived or worked in town since World War II. The museum contains more than 2 million items including uniforms, equipment, memorabilia and artwork from 93 different military branches worldwide.

The Reynoldsburg Air Force Base gift history began in the early 1940s when General George C. Marshall, then-chief of staff of the United States Army, visited the base. He was impressed with the air force's capabilities and decided to make it his home. In 1946, he gifted a hangar on campus to the air force. The next year, General Curtis LeMay donated two barracks on an adjacent property to the air force as well. The army barracks were used as a training ground for airmen until 1992. In 1990, General Reuben A. McKenzie donated an unused runway at Reynoldsburg AFB to the military for use by fighter jets and helicopters.
Reynoldsburg is a small town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Reynoldsburg was founded by John Reynolds and his family in 1810 as a log settlement on the west side of the Scioto River. The first frame building in town was built by Captain Nathaniel Gibbs in 1814. In 1865, local resident James A. Rhodes donated land to create what is now known as Rhodes Park overlooking the Scioto River. The community experienced growth during World War II as many residents served in the military or were drafted into service. The post-war years saw an increase in development with several stores and businesses opening up along US 60 and State Route 3A. This growth led to increased traffic and congestion on both streets, which caused some homes to be replaced with larger more efficient homes that could accommodate more people but also created problems for motorists traveling through Reynoldsburg between courses at Montermountain State Park and other points north or south of town center. In 1968, then-Mayor Harry Burden announced plans for a new bypass around town using money from state property sales Tax revenues being generated from industrial development along US 60 east of town limits; this bypass would eventually become known as I-70 exit 185 (exit #2). The United States Air Force was formed in 1947 and during the early years, many members contributed their time and resources to help form this powerful military organization. One of the earliest Air Force gifts was a set of Spitfires, which were donated by British pilots. These planes were very effective in aerial combat and soon became known as “The Flying Fortress” due to their large size and capabilities. Other contribution from members include fighter planes, missiles, tanks, helicopters and more. Over time, Air Force gift history has evolved into one of the most diverse militaries on Earth with unique aircraft and equipment available for purchase or donation. In recent years, membership has also opened up to civilians who want to join the Air Force as volunteers or full-time employees.
On July 1, 1957, the USAF introduced a new gift system under which personnel could give one another items such as radios, watches, or other equipment. The gift system was known as the "Air Force Day Gift Program." The program was designed to promote social and aircraft-related activities among USAF members. The program was initially limited to the enlisted population but eventually became available to all Air Force personnel. In its first year, the program gave out more than 2,000 gifts. Gifts were given in various forms such as money, cigarettes, candy bars, or other items that related to aircraft or aviation culture. Gift programs continued to be developed throughout the years and are now used by many different agencies within the United States military.
Reynoldsburg is a town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Reynoldsburg was founded in 1834 by General John Reynolds and his brother-in-law Major James Kapp. In 1871, it became the seat of Columbiana County after the consolidation of that county with Ross County. It was named for John Reynolds, who had represented the town in Congress from 1831 to 1835 and again from 1861 to 1865. The first settler in what would become Reynoldsburg was James Kapp, who arrived in 1830 from Ireland. He built a log cabin on the banks of the Scioto River near present-day Reynoldsburg Boulevard and Main Street. Other early settlers included Daniel Duchaine (1792–1855), Elisha Cook (1805–1868), Nicholas Purdy (1811–1886), Isaac Cook (1800–1854), George Witherspoon (1784–1866) and others. In 1834, General John Reynolds purchased 640 acres (2 km²) of land east of present-day Blackwellsville along Scioto Creek from David Williamson for $5 per acre ($100 total). The Reynold’s Bridge Road bridge over Scioto Creek connects this section of town with Blackwellsville today; however, it originally crossed via a ford across Scoocco Creek about three miles west of this point. At that time there were no roads or rails in what is now southeastern Ohio; therefore, wagonloads of goods moved between Blackwellsville and Ross Township on horseback or on pack horses across what is now known as "the Big Forks" area which includes parts of Southwestern Ross Township today before crossing into Columbiana County on either Sweeney's Ford or Slaughter's Ferry crossings located near present day Mays Landing Rd./SR 248/US 12 south of Dayton Airport/just west side off I-480 exit ramp onto I-270 exit ramp). A later stage saw railroads being established through central Ohio including one reaching LewisVILLE just southwest of here; however transportation problems led to its abandonment until recently when it reopened as part as partof larger regional transportation system called “The Connector” which encompasses all major regional bridges including I-670 into downtown Dayton directly connecting with Lucas Valley Hospitality Network locations within downtown Dayton without having to go any further than I-675 exit #1 off I‑675 southeast corner Of US 11/I‑275 exit ramps mainline Interstate 270 exits & local state Routes 22nd St., 180th St., etc.) Today most people refer to their community as simply "Reynoldsburg". The original post office opened in October 1835 under Postmaster Samuel Seaman and continued operations until November 1st 1840 when it was closed due to lack postal service within the newly formed county. A new post office opened January 12th 1850 under First Class Mail contractor Ebenezer Youngblood under name "New Philadelphia". Reynoldsburg was first settled in 1778 by Captain John Reynolds and his family. The present-day town was named for him. In 1814, the Ohio General Assembly designated Reynoldsburg as the seat of Warren County, and it remained so until 1911.
