Pickerington is a city in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. Pickerington was founded in 1814 and named for Captain John Pickering of the HMS Beagle. It is located on the Scioto River and has a history dating back to the 17th century. The city was first settled by Scots-Irish farmers and their slaves, who began to arrive in large numbers during the early 1800s. By 1870, about half of the residents were white Americans and only 10 percent were African American people. During World War II, Pickerington became one of four U.S. cities to be bombed by Japan; it remained an industrial center until the late 1960s when its manufacturing jobs disappeared as a result of automation from outside forces. While wine was being brewed at various places throughout Europe during this time period it seems that no one really knew what espresso was or what caused it to turn into such a popular drink worldwide so perhaps we can thank Columbus for his initial discovery when he set sail for Florida on October 12th 1492 aboard his own ship La Niña without tasting anything else onboard….. just water!

Pickerington is a small town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,904 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The town was founded by John Pickering in 1837 and named for him. He built a log cabin on the Scioto River and started trading with Indians. In 1849, he married Rebecca Lewis and moved to Pickerington. His store grew into a successful business that supported many families. Pickerington became an important center for education in central Ohio during the 19th century. A large schoolhouse and several other buildings were constructed in 1852-1853 by prominent builder James Heathcote. Pickerington's first library was opened in 1865 by Mrs. Sallie Laddington Dodgey (née French). The library is still open today and serves as the primary source of information for residents of Pickerington and surrounding villages. In 1876, Pickerington voted to incorporation as a village; it did not become an incorporated municipality until 1947 when it combined with neighboring townships to form what is now known as the Columbus Metropolitan Area

A new community development program began in the 1970s which has seen increasing growth in Pickerington since then.
