The Perrysburg Naval Shipyard was established in 1887 and has been responsible for the construction of many warships over the years. The Navy's first ship, the USS Constitution, was launched here in 1899. The yard also built the USS George Washington (1890), USS John F. Kennedy (1963), and USS Enterprise (CVN-65) among others. Today, Perrysburg is home to two naval shipyards - the destroyer squadron destroyer hull division at No. 2 Dock and the guided missile destroyer squadron destroyer hull division at No. 3 Dock - as well as a variety of other facilities including an aircraft hangar, ammunition depot, engine plant and shipbuilding research center. In 1995, Commodore Rick Majerus took command of Destroyer Squadron 519 at No. 2 Dock and ordered its inception into history by launching America's first warship -USS Miami (DLG-2). After the war, Perrysburg began producing amphibious assault vehicles, including the M113A3 APC. In 1962, Perrysburg established a branch office in Singapore to produce ships for that country's navy. In 2006, Perrysburg became part of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), which is one of America's largest defense contractors. As part of HII's military arm, Huntington Ingalls will continue to produce warships and other armored vehicles at its Perrysburg plant.

Perrysburg is a small town in Clark County, Ohio, United States. It is the seat of Perrysburg Township and was founded on November 10, 1814. The population was 2,500 at the 2000 census. In 1785, an act of the General Assembly incorporated Perrysburg as a village. The first postmaster was Samuel Hoadley and the first treasurer was John Sibley. In 1824, James Prentice built the first school house in Perrysburg. A new frame school building replaced it in 1849. In 1865, Esther Jane Brown founded the First Methodist Episcopal church here. In 1892, a fire destroyed most of downtown Perrysburg but quickly rebuilt with materials from surrounding buildings and citizens working together. The current Main Street original structure was erected in 1903-04 to replace an earlier frame building that had been destroyed by fire three years earlier. The township formed out of parts of Crawford and Union counties on February 14, 1911 when it became apparent that several other townships were about to be created within Clark County due to increased population growth around Lima (the county seat). At one time there were ten townships in Clark County; five now remain within Clark County while seven have been disbanded or merged into other counties since then including Medina and Portage which are now part of Toledo – all due to rapid population growth during World War II whenClarkCounty experienced an unprecedented level of immigration and suburbanization thanks to military service and jobs available in Toledo or Cleveland Heights OH among others places
Perrysburg is located in the heart of the Ohio Valley, just north of Pittsburgh and east of Cincinnati. It was founded by General David Burnett in 1795 as a small farming community on the Scioto River. Burnett named his settlement after Colonel John Perry, an American Revolutionary War hero who fought for the British against George Washington. The village grew rapidly during the late 18th century and reached its peak in population around 1800. However, due to Native American attacks,burnett's town was burned twice during the Indian Wars and lost all its buildings except for a few outhouses. In 1814, Perrysburg became part of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; however, it retains much of its original culture and folkways today.
