The town's first gunsmith, John Geddes, operated out of his home from that date until he moved to a store at Third and Elm Streets in 1847. He was followed by George Prentice who operated a store on Main Street from 1852 to 1865. In 1872, local resident James W. Hartsfield opened a store at Clinton Avenue and 2nd Street which served as the original seed for what would become Perrysburg'sgun shop culture today. In 1893, the Perrysburg Rifle Club was chartered and soon after began purchasing guns from local dealers. At its peak membership totaled over 40 people and it was considered one of the most active rifle clubs in central Ohio. It is interesting to note that many of these early gun enthusiasts were also regular customers at Hartsfield's store which continued to serve as the nucleus of this community's firearms industry until it closed its doors in 1951. Although gun ownership within the community slowly decreased during this time period (due largely to prohibition), it did not prevent residents from continuing to cherish their firearms through birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, or special occasions such as NRA meetings or funerals. Indeed, many residents still own firearms today and continue to contribute significantly to Perrysburg’s firearm culture through selective sales and events like Gun Shows & vendors nights held throughout the year!

Perrysburg is a town in Lancaster County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,362 at the 2010 census. It is the home of the Perrysburg Arts and Heritage Festival, which occurs each July in conjunction with the Independence Day Parade. The town was founded in 1812 by Colonel John Morgan and his family as an agricultural community on a swale that lay between two hills near present-day Easton and West Union Roads. The name came from nearby Mount Harrison, which was known for its wild strawberries. The first settler in Perrysburg was George Washington Caldwell, who arrived in 1815. In 1868, Perrysburg became part of the newly formed Ulysses S. Grant Territory after President Andrew Johnson issued an executive order creating it. In 1898, when Ohio became a state following the Morrill Act of 1862, Perrysburg lost its independent status but continued to be governed by Township trustees. When statehood came about in 1907 it reverted back to township form until incorporation as a village in 1920 under the name of "Perrysburgh." In 1970s and 1980s many businesses closed down due to high costs associated withildaionization including union organizing drives among other things; however now there are more small businesses open up than ever before because of cheaper rents and less regulation from city hall

Perrysburg is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Muncie Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the time of the US Census Bureau's 2010 enumeration, Perrysburg had a total population of 10,521. The first permanent settler in what would become Perrysburg was George C. Smith in 1814. He built a cabin on the current site of town in 1815 and named it "Perrystown". In 1816, James Linns purchased land from George C. Smith and erected a log cabin on what is now Main Street in Perrysburg. Linns named his new settlement "Lincoln". The original courthouse building was completed in 1830 and served as both municipal court and township meeting hall until it burned down in 1865. In 1833, John Hartsfield purchase land from James Linns and developed it into an agricultural community with two main crops: corn and beans. The first store opened for business in 1840 at what is now First Avenue near present-day Center Street. By 1860, there were nine stores and eighty-six homes within the community limits; also had three churches (Methodist Episcopal Church (1840), Baptist Church (1848), Roman Catholic Parish #2 (1864)). A post office called "Hartsfield" was established at this location on October 1st, 1840 by Samuel Hartsfield Jr., brother of John Hartsfield Sr.. Reverend Samuel Hartsfield delivered the first sermon at the Methodist church here on October 2nd 1840 . On July 12th 1863 during Battle Creek Campaign Union General Jonathan McAllister ordered his army to cross Big Run River without waiting for orders from higher up; when Confederate General Robert Ewell learned about this move he attacked McAllister's forces under General Joseph Hooker; after several hours battle Hooker withdrew his forces before achieving any significant results; however with over twenty thousand casualties among Union forces McAllister's reputation took a beating which effectively ended his military career leading to him being removed from command post later that year In 1861 during American Civil War Perrysburg voted against secession due to its close proximity to Louisville but eventually submitted to Confederate rule following federal troops' seizure of local government buildings acrossmuskingum county including courthouse & jail ; residents soon started calling themselves "Confederate Republicans" or simply "Republicans". Downtown businesses closed early June 1862 due to fear of Confederate raiders while supplies continued flowing into town via small boats dockage bordered by Third Streetnorthwest cornerof present day State Route 422 east side) During Battle Creek Campaign Proclamation No 11 issued by President Abraham Lincoln ordering all citizens ...to raise their arms against Rebel Invasion read aloud by Colonel Brown commanding 6th Michigan Infantry ...Afternoon patrol discovered 4 cannons stored behind Federal Buildings northeast corner Third streetNorthwest cornerState Route 422 ..As heavy gunfire erupted outside reloading became mandatory .... Aftermath some houses were destroyed while others sustained only damage ..During Reconstruction period many people moved away including most downtown business owners who returned home during reconstruction years . After statehood in 1907 many residents decided not to return so development slowly began taking place around downtown area
Perrysburg was founded in 1796 by Major James Perry and his wife, Mrs. Mary White. The town was named after General George Washington, who had been a resident of the area for many years. The first settler in Perrysburg was John Whitesides, who arrived in 1798. In 1810, the town became a village and the name was changed to Perrysburg in 1821. In 1827, the town voted to become a city and it did so on February 14th of that year. The population of Perrysburg peaked at around 11,000 during the late 19th century but declined thereafter. It has since shrunk to its current size of around 5,500 residents.
