The Perrysburg Historical Society was formed in 1865 when the first settlers of Perrysburg, Ohio, erected a log cabin on the creek bank. The society's first president was Capt. John S. Atkins and its first secretary was Mrs. Clara Bicknell. In 1875, the society purchased land from the estate of General James Fenton and began erecting a large brick courthouse which served as the parish church until 1898. In 1907, Congress passed an act providing for a National Military Park at Perrysburg and within two years the society had donated $10,000 to finance its establishment. The park opened to visitors in 1919 and today is home to more than 1,500 artifacts from American military history including cannons, uniforms, saddles and other equipment used by soldiers during World War I-II and Korea. Perrysburg also has one of America's largest military parade Grounds where every year numerous events are held such as Reenactments of western battles or parades commemorating local veterans or their families

Perrysburg was founded in 1792 by General George Washington, who named the town after his birthplace of Perrisset, England. The area now comprising Perrysburg was part of the Northwest Territory under the government of Pennsylvania until it was admitted to the United States as a state in 1821. The surrounding countryside was heavily forested and Poverty Row, located on what is now Main Street, consisted of small villages that depended upon agriculture for their livelihoods. In 1817, a group of mainly German immigrants came to Perrysburg and started a successful tannery. The town's first post office opened in 1824. In 1825, Congress passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act which repealed Missouri's Embargo Act which had prohibited American exports to that state. As a result, Perrysburg became one of the most pro-Kansas western towns. By 1830, however, business had slowed down due to increased competition from nearby Adams County and other cities in Illinois. In 1831–32, local farmers petitioned Ohio Governor John Dickson for permission to build an railroad through their land; Dickson granted them permission but announced his intention to veto any railroads built within state boundaries without prior approval from Ohio legislators. This caused much ire among several thousand citizens who regarded Dickson as illegitimate because he had been elected with only 50% of the vote instead of over two thirds required under state Constitution at that time In response to this indignity and frustration, many residents formed a "People's Railroad" movement led by Horace Greeley which successfully lobbied for construction permissions be granted without delay To date it is the largest ever instance where citizens banded together to lobby for something they believe in – an engineered railway network across their county
Perrysburg was founded in 1792 by John Perry and his brother-in-law, Timothy Smith. The area now includes the cities of Dayton, Worthington, and Uptown and the town of Perrysburg Heights. In 1837, the Ohio General Assembly authorized a survey to be made of the city limits. The surveyors found that only two-thirds of what was then known as Perrysburg had been surveyed. They recommended that the entire city be redrawn in order to create more manageable boundaries for future growth. On July 24, 1837, a new ordinance was passed establishing the City of Perrysburg with a population of 10,000 residents.
