The United States Navy has deployments all over the world, but one of its most recent deployments has been in Pataskala, Ohio. The city was once a small town that was completely dependent on the military for their survival. The first deployment occurred in 1952 when USS Constitution (N-8) arrived from Yokosuka Naval Base on Japan. The ship was used as a training base for naval aviators and sailors before being turned into an amphibious assault ship by Congress in 1968 under then President Lyndon Johnson Jr.. It wasn't until 1979 that another U.S Naval Forces deployment took place when USS John F Kennedy (CV-68) arrived from Philadelphia Naval Shipyard bound for Bahrain after being donation by Kuwait during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. This event marked the first time a warship had ever been stationed at Bahrain and also helped increase trade between Pataskala and Bahrain due to what would later become known as "the Kuwait arms deal." As defense spending increased throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, so too did naval deployments in North America; this led to two more USS John F Kennedy arrivals—USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-84) in 1992 and USS George H W Bush (CVN-77) in 1993—in addition to other warships like HMS Hermes (HSL-1), HMS Repulse (RNU-59), USNS Antietam(AGI-39), USNS Canyon(APD-9), USNS Tripoli(Tripoli–01), USCGC Valley Forge(GCE-4). These deployments were meant not only for exercises but also for various humanitarian missions such as repatriating refugees or providing medical assistance during natural disasters like Hurricane Andrew or earthquakes like Haiti Earthquake relief efforts. Pataskala is a small town in Harrison County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown, OH–KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Pataskala was John Pritchard who arrived in 1792. He built a cabin on what is now Main Street. A post office called Pataskala was established in 1812, and remained in operation until 1865. In 1819, George Stephenson founded the blockhouse and steamboatyard on the north side of the river at present-day West Side Road between Latimer and Union streets. The company constructed three boats: one for Peter Cooper (the founder of Cincinnati), one for George Stephenson himself (the first locomotive to be built in America), and one for Andrew Mellon (founder of Mellon Bank). This venture failed but led to Stephenson's later success as inventor and builder of the Liverpool-Manchester Railway. Pataskala had its start as a stagecoach stop on Stagecoach Road near where it currently stands east of downtown Dayton. In 1875, local farmer James Girdwood donated land to build a church complex that included a school and farm buildings; today's Stemmons Drive separates this property from Interstate 75 just south of town limits. A post office called Pataskala opened in 1865,and remained open until 1915 when it was merged into Dayton's main post office system.. In 1907, Wm Henson established an agricultural society which published "The Farmer". By 1912 there were six stores and two restaurants within town limits - all operated by residents or businessmen who bought goods from other businesses located elsewhere within Dayton or Middletown
