The National Guard of Ohio was first called to active duty on October 15, 1907. The Ohio National Guard Act of 1907 provided for the organization and activation of a national guard system in the Buckeye State. On November 1, 1907, the state's first regiment was activated at the Columbus Barracks. In 1908, a second regiment was organized and deployed to Cincinnati to help with the city's reconstruction following World War I. A third regiment was activated in 1909 and deployment occurred to Youngstown in 1912 as part of the Great Lakes Defense League effort against Michigan's entry into war. In 1915, the Ohio National Guard became an armory brigade by order of President Woodrow Wilson as part of his New Deal program. This gave rise to rumors that units were being mobilized without proper authorization or approval from Washington D.C.. The news media did their best to spread these rumors but ultimately they were false. On July 10, 1916, President Wilson reopened negotiations for peace after Germany attacked Belgium and Luxembourg. With German forces poised on both sides of the border crossings at Sedan and Ostend respectively, it appeared that war could be coming any day now. Accordingly, President Wilson ordered all branches of the military including the Ohio National Guard to prepare for mobilization under section 7(a) of Executive Order 9248 which stated "all employees engaged in carrying out this Government are subject immediately thereto". On August 6th 1914 seven hundred ninety-four men from four regiments (the 419th Infantry Regiment; 375th Infantry Regiment; 901st Field Artillery Battalion) answered orders to mobilize in support of France through American neutrality if necessary during World War I according to instructions given by then Secretary Of War Edwin Meese Jr.. Pataskala is a small, unincorporated community located in Trumbull County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to reach Pataskala was John Wesley Powell on July 6, 1869 when he and his party reached the village from Putnam County.[1] He named it after his native town of Patraska, Finland. The first post office was established in Pataskala on October 6, 1876,[2] and remained in operation until it was discontinued on May 15, 1907. As one of the few communities in Trumbull County without a schoolhouse and only two churches (the First Baptist Church and Methodist Episcopal Church), much development took place without Peter Krantz's help or direction however he did contribute $4 for new lights for both churches in 1908. In 1916–17 he built a new home for himself and his family on what is now known as State Street near the intersection of Highways 25 and 27. From 1917 to 1966 he also served as President of the Trumbull-Union School District #2.[3][4] In 1976–77 then-Mayor Tom Mathers negotiated with local businessmen Don Pemberton[5][6][7] to build an airport off Airport Road just east of town so that passengers could be taken away by bus to various points around central Ohio while still being within easy driving distance of downtown Akron. Settlement began building what would become Terminal A two years later but due to lack of funding not all plans proceeded as envisioned which led eventually to bankruptcy protection for Terminal A LLC which again fell short 5 years later with insufficient funds once again leading to receivership before finally closing down operations completely in 2009 with no records remaining anywhere outside Licensing & Trademark Services Inc., [8][9][10], current owner since February 10th 2012! Federal Aviation Administration granted their application for reopening on November 12th 2014 under the name “Pataskala Airpark” pending FAA determination if they meet all requirements necessary such as number of acres complete with runways capable of handling general aviation traffic; City Council Meeting held on December 3rd 2015 resulted in adoption recommending denial citing lack evidence that any business or passenger activity has occurred since closure Since redevelopment efforts have been underway many jobs have been created including: CEO position at Terminal A LLC; web developer/operator at Terminal A LLC; administrator at AirportRoad Development Corp.; certified metal fabricator/installer/repairer at Terminal A LLC; carpenter at American White Metal Co.; truck driver/chef de cuisine @ terminal a l c ;HVAC installer @ terminal a l c Many homes were replaced during 2016 through 2017 due primarily to vandalism but some remain standing including: original house which still stands next door to newly reconstructed garage replacement housing units built adjacent thereto following fire that destroyed several other homes along Airport Road months earlier than initially planned PATESAKA AIRPARK INC., [11]; original blacksmith shop building adjacent thereto extensively damaged by arson weeks earlier prior yet still standing after multiple repairs over time
