Parma Heights is an unincorporated community in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,690 at the 2010 census. It lies east of Zanesville on State Route 620 and south of intersecting State Routes 21 and 27. The first settlers in Parma Heights were John Dickey and his family who arrived about 1800 from Pennsylvania. They lived for a time on the site of what is now the high school before moving to a farmstead near present-day Centerville. Dickey's son, James O'Malley (1790-1864), also settled in Parma Heights after arriving in 1814 from Ireland with his father, Patrick O'Malley (1768-1844). In 1827, James purchased land east of Zanesville from Nicholas Hocking and built a log cabin known as "Hocking's Fork". The village of Parma Heights was organized on October 15, 1848 by vote of the citizens. Its first mayor was Elisha Swayne. A store was opened by Wm. Gorman in 1850, and post office began operations under that name on November 8 that year. At its peak population during the late 19th century, Parma Heights had a schoolhouse (one room), two churches (Episcopal Manchester and Methodist Stroudsburg), three stores/branches (Gorman Bros., JONES & CO., ANDERSON BROS.), four residences/houseshophouses (George Stephenson House #4 being especially notable), one hotel/boarding house/inn (#5) and several agriculture businesses including a gristmill #7 and a saw mill #8 which continued to be operative until around 1920s when they were all closed down due to prohibitionism within Ohio Parma Heights experienced economic decline following World War II with most residents moving out or shutting down their businesses while some returned but did not maintain much activity until the early 1960s when many apartments were constructed along Euclid Avenue which later became known as "isma" area

Parma Heights is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, on the border of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. The population was 362 at the 2010 census, making it the smallest city in Ohio by population. It was part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area before its annexation by Cincinnati in 2003. The first settlement in what is now Parma Heights was founded in 1795 by John Bartram, who named his town after his father-in-law, Sir William Hardwicke, 4th Baronet of Harrowgate. The community grew slowly until 1814 when General James Wilkinson founded a military post here to support Ulysses S. Grant's campaign against Native American forces in the War for Independence. When Parma Heights became part of Hamilton County, Ohio, it had a population of only 10 people. The first store opened in Parma Heights on May 1st 1814 and was run by local grocer John Richardson with help from native son George Stephenson and others from nearby Monroeville Township (now Moorestown). The store failed within weeks due to low business activity and Richardson closed it down for lack of customers. A second store opened on October 12th 1814 at 8 Neches Avenue which also failed within weeks because no one wanted to set up shop near where Indian attacks were common during that time period In 1865, two brothers named George and Isaac Howland built a house on North Fifth Street which still stands today as one of the most notable examples of Gilded Age architecture in America A post office called Parma Heights was established at this location on November 15th 1865 under postal control from Cincinnati since that city did not have an official municipal center like Dayton or Cleveland did yet On March 3rd 1870 Samuel Morse received a patent for his telegraph system from Congress creating "the first successful wireless network".
