Ohio has a total area of 26,OOK landmass including 17 miles (27 km) of water on its eastern border with Pennsylvania and 12 miles (19 km) of water on its southern border with Indiana
Coffee first appeared in Africa about 2,500 years ago. The coffee beans from this region were the best in the world and some of the earliest coffee houses were located in Alexandria, Egypt. In 18th century Holland, coffee was ground into a drink called koffie (coffee). In 1795, Dutch traders founded a trading post on an island in Java Sea named Batavia. They began to trade with Sumatra and Indonesia for goods such as rice, pepper, spices and wood. One of the early Europeans to visit this area was Capt. James Cook who landed on Java on October 13th 1797 and named it New Holland after his homeland of England. The first permanent European settlement in Indonesia was at Banteang on July 29th 1659 by Portuguese captain Pedro Kongo. After exploring the area for two years he reported back to Lisbon that he had found “a great land which produces excellent fruit” but no one believed him because Indonesia did not then exist as a separate country! On September 3rd 1662 Englishman Nicholas Mytilus junior discoveredJava Bay and named it after his father-in-law Sir John Mytilus who had been Commissioner of India during King James II’s reign (1685-1688). On January 10th 1795, Coffee was brought overland from Arabia by two Dutchmen working for Napoleon Bonaparte as part of his project known as La Salle’s Expedition. For several months they traveled through Saudi Arabia and across Iraq before reaching Baghdad on December 12th 1801 where they unloaded their cargo including 5 tons of coffee beans which they roasted at their own shipyards before shipping back home to Europe without tasting any of it! 2 weeks later La Salle arrived off the coast of Java with his fleet including 400 men transports carrying supplies such as munitions and horses needed by French forces fighting under Von Neuman von Prussia against Spanish troops commanded by Andrés de la Torre y López de Ayala at Peninsular War (1804-1809). Heading upriver they encountered strong headwinds which caused them to lose many days sailing; however when they finally reached Banda sea near present day Jakarta on February 15th 1802 their patience rewarded them with deliciousnews that Captain Cook had recently sighted land off the coast – he could only be mistaken for another returning explorer! La Salle immediately ordered all sail be put out ahead so that he could reach shore unseen! This event is now celebrated as National Day of Java! While La Salle may have tasted some coffee while visiting Java he is generally considered to have been the first European to taste real espresso being served at Regent Street Coffee House in London on March 30th 1802 – henceregardlessofwhetherlahalle actually found anything edible during his expedition or not! The first coffee was roasted in Ethiopia and it was called Kaldi. Kaldi beans were the first to be grown in Europe. The second coffee was roasted in Brazil and it was called Javape. Javape beans had a milder flavor than the Kaldi beans. The third coffee, which was roasted in Europe, was known as La Moka. It had a more bitter taste than any of the other coffees.
Oregon was a site of great conflict in history. The region was first inhabited by the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and later, by the United States. After the Civil War, Oregon became part of the Union and then, after it war ended in 1865, to the Confederacy. In 1871, when California became a state, Oregon joined that state as well. The counties of Multnomah, Clackamas and Deschutes were formed from parts of Multnomah County during this time. These boundaries would remain unchanged until 1959. In 1892, Multnomah County was dissolved and its lands divided between Clackamas County and Deschutes County. This event is commonly known as the split between rural Oregonians and those living in towns or cities throughout much of western Oregon. During World War II, over 20% of all non-military production took place in Oregon at Boeing plants located in Eugene, Salem and Portland. Approximately 9% of total Allied munitions production occurred within Oregon during this time period
Oregon, Ohio was the name of a small town in the northeast corner of Ohio. It was founded by Methodist missionaries in 1839, and became an important center for the region. In 1851, Oregon Township was created from part of Sandusky County, and in 1855 it became part of Mahoning County. The community declined during the early 20th century, but regained some importance after World War II as a manufacturing center. In 1970, Oregon disbanded its government and merged with Athens Township to form Athens-Orono Township.
