With so many guns being bought and sold during this time period, it is difficult to determine which one was actually given to which person. However, it is likely that at least one firearm was given as a gift to another individual. In 1819, the town of North Olmsted (now part of Cleveland) erected a small park on the corner of Erie Avenue and Euclid Street. This area became known as "The Square." The square was used for public events such as elections and fairs. It also served as an ammunition storage ground for the local militia. In 1868, two brothers named John and James Smith donated land to be used for a public school in North Olmsted. The school first opened its doors in 1870. It would eventually become known as Franklin High School. In 1898, the town purchased land next door to the high school and built a new campus called Loughborough Hall. This building housed both the high school and community center until 1978 when it was replaced by North Olmsted Middle School. In 1949, four friends from Westerville decided to open their own restaurant called The Grapeseed Inn on Ferry Road in North Olmsted. The restaurant soon became well-known throughout Northeastern Ohio due to its wonderful food and friendly service. Over time, other businesses have been added to The Grapeseed Inn including a barber shop, beauty salon, laundry services, grocery store/marketing space, etcetera (see below). Today there are over 15 businesses located inside or outside of The Grapeseed Inn including several ambulatory care clinics affiliated with Mercy Health Network! In addition to providing great business opportunity for local entrepreneurs who may not have otherwise had access thereto; these clinics provide complimentary parking for our patrons who come into town for various reasons! North Olmsted, Ohio is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 59,048 at the 2010 census. North Olmsted is the county seat of Lucas County. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton Combined Statistical Area. Founded by Germans in 1814 as "Nortonville", North Olmsted was renamed after General James Wilkinson in 1828 to honor his victory over Native Americans at Battle of Pee Dee on December 15 that year. The city (then called Norton) was incorporated on February 14, 1836. On November 3, 1868, it became the site of the first major political campaign in Ohio when Ulysses S. Grant became president of the United States and won re-election with support from residents of nearby Akron and Toledo who saw their town becoming increasingly peripheral to national affairs.
