North Olmsted, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Lucas County. The population was 60,569 as of the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Lucas County after Cincinnati and Cleveland. North Olmsted is located on the southern edge of Cleveland Municipal Airport. The area that would become North Olmsted was first settled by Europeans in 1800 as part of what is now Erie County. It was incorporated as a town in 1806 and became an independent city in 1868 when it merged with Cleveland to form what is now Lucas County. The name "Olmsted" comes from Danish immigrants who named their farmstead "Olsborg." In 1830, land that would become North Olmsted was donated by Augustus Wirtz to make way for a public school system which he had started up at Euclid Township (now part of Cleveland). When Wirtz died in 1840, his estate went to his son John Dickson Wirtz who then donated land for a second public school system at High Point Manor (now part of Westlake Village), east of present day North Olmsted. In 1849, high school students from Cleveland walked across Drury Lane into downtown Toledo to demand better education for their peers; this event is generally considered to be the beginning of higher education in Ohio. After several years of construction and controversy, Euclid–High Point Elementary School opened its doors on September 20, 1865; today's site features one block south off Superior Avenue between Greenfield Road and Cedar Road – home to some notable buildings including Euclid Hall (the former headquarters of Cuyahoga Falls Community College) and Strongsville Place Middle School also used by HVAC/HVAC training programs offered at both Goretti Junior High School (opened 1969) and Our Lady Of Nazareth Catholic Schools – Ahlborn Learning Center which offers PreK-8th grade classesinderry English/Math instruction open enrollment K-12th grades are available 7 days/wk starting Monday mornings until 3 pm PT

North Olmsted, Ohio is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 723 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. North Olmsted was founded in 1836 as a village by settlers from Denmark and Sweden who were attracted to its fertile soils and woodlands. The village developed into a town in 1868, when it was annexed by the city of Cleveland. In 1974, North Olmsted became an independent city again. The City of North Olmsted was established on November 1st 1836 by Danish and Swedish settlers who were drawn to its fertile soil and woodlands for agriculture and lumber production. The first settler, Jens Hansen Skovgaardt (1786-1835), arrived in May 1836 with his family from Aabenraa parish near Copenhagen. The founders of the City of North Olmsted desired to establish their community as an agricultural center that would be accessible to all parts of the state of Ohio through trade with other local villages and townships. The first plat for what would become known as "North Olmstead" was filed on October 20th 1836 by John Scudder and James Laughlin Jr.. This land included a total area of just over three acres (1 hectare). At that time there were only four families living in what is now North Olmstead: Jens Hansen's family, Hans Rasmussen's family, Rasmus Smedegaard's family and Peder Christensen's family. By 1830 there had been enough growth within the fledgling town to warrant another platting session; this time with twenty-four lots being offered for sale comprising an area totaling just over two acres (0.8 hectares). On July 10th 1830 another group of pioneers - led by Ole Nielsen - arrived at the shores of Lake Erie following weeks spent traveling downriver from Detroit via Torontoboat landing at Huron Bayou on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula arriving on July 4th 1830 . They set up camp along what is now Springvale Road northeast of today’s intersection with Sandusky Avenue east side Of Euclid Avenue where they built their log cabin which still stands today! The group numbered about thirty individuals including ten men plus six women who labored daily chopping wood for heat inside their primitive structure! On October 17th 1830 they organized themselves into two companies each composed entirelyof men under commandof Captain Nielsen! From then until 1862 most all transportation within town took place by boat down Cedar Creek or across Lake Erie using horses pulled behind stagecoaches or wagons drawn by oxendrawn buggies excursions such as this one taken December 12th 1831 headed southwesterly along Cedar Creek past present day Union Chapel rounding Big Horn Hill before returning upstream again making stops at various points en route including present day Lucasville Landing prior finally reaching their original campsite northwest OF Springvale Road WednesdayDecember 15th 1830 2 days after leaving Detroit Lakeside! One can imagine how exciting it must have been walking those many miles home after work every day during those early years when progress could be made immediately!2) In 1840 Nathan Bartholomew donated 5 acres (2 ha) northwest corner lot #4b & lot #4c north side creek bed & southwest corner Hwy 9 & lot 4d between cedar creek & hwy 9
The village of North Olmsted was founded by the Dutch in 1796. The area that would become North Olmsted was part of the Northwest Territory, which was organized in 1787. In 1800, the land north of the current town line were purchased from the Native Americans and developed as a pioneer settlement. In 1814, Ohio became a state and North Olmsted became one of its first villages. On July 7, 1818, General Andrew Jackson was elected president and on November 3 he signed legislation creating the United States Department of War. This move signaled an end to Indian hostilities in Ohio and increased trade between Canada and America. As American industry grew, so too did demands for labor on farms and factories throughout the Midwest. large numbers of Europeans moved into Illinois during this time frame as well, bringing their various skills with them. This migration led to a growth in Italian-American populations in Northeast Ohio; however, Irish-American populations were more prevalent in Southwestern Ohio until after World War II when restrictions against occupancy began to be lifted
