The history of the North Olmsted Army deploying gift is a long and varied one. It dates back to at least 1836, when Major General John L. Morgan founded the Ohio Volunteers in order to fight against Native Americans. The unit was initially stationed in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, but soon relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. Their mission is twofold:To provide Uniformed Services personnel with donated items such as camping equipment or vehicles for use during deployments; and To raise money for various charities and programs sanctioned by the US military. The first deployment occurred on October 16th 1951 when Rear Admiral Harry Swayne located an abandoned ammunition train near Wapakoneta Lake in central Ohio after its locomotive had been knocked down by a storm drain Johnson County residents had installed on their property as part of a campaign designedto promote public safety during natural disasters like tornadoes or hurricanes. The Soldiers from Company K from 3rd Battalion (7th Infantry) Pioneer Regiment set about cleaning up any damage that could have been done while conducting “Operation Avalanche” which was also dubbed “Operation Hurricane” due to its potential devastation wrought by powerful winds estimated at 100 mph! The event created quite a media sensation as both news articles and photos depicted scores of Soldiers wearing gas masks demolishing anything that got in their way while also raising funds for local relief efforts! As word spread about what was happening around them Volunteer company members quickly doled out supplies including food vouchers and ice chests filled with beer so people could stay warm during these extreme weather conditions! One can only imagine how amazing it must have felt being among those responsible for putting meals on tables for families impacted by natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina or Sandy! Since then there have been numerous deployments across different parts of our country both large scale (e.g., Operation Iraqi Freedom) as well as more localized events (eastern Kentucky Fried Chicken Day). Each time brings new challenges faced by our Soldiers along with opportunities for fundraising which allows us all to come together each holiday season knowing that we are making a difference not just locally but nationally too!

The First World War was different however; troop deployments were not as common as they are today because Warfare at Home had just ended two years earlier and many Americans were eager for another chance at glory abroad. On August 25th 1915, General Pershing ordered all available troops from across the country into Mexico City where he was leading an invasion against Pancho Villa’s forces. Troops from Maine fought alongside Mexican Army units until late October when US troops finally evacuated after reports emerged that Villa was planning another attack on downtown Mexico City; this event is considered to be Day One of World War I (WWI). Since World War II there has been an ever growing trend towards deploying personnel overseas on combat tours or humanitarian missions such as disaster relief or child survival work – these deployments can last anywhere from months up to several years and can involve both U.S.-based military members and foreign soldiers working together side by side in what is often called “the community college of war” (Lenton 2003). Astrophy has always been one factor behind this trend and it seems that more countries are now considering using armies within their militaries as part of their strategy for projecting power worldwide (Farrelly 2002). The most recent example is NATO’s Deployed Forces program which allows member nations to send upto 400 troops each way into battle around the world without having them return home for six months (Peters 2006). This type of deployment has become increasingly common due to global political changes such as Terrorism and Homeland Security which have made it necessary for militaries throughout Europe and Asia to field larger contingents than ever before (Beattie 2001).

North Olmsted, Ohio is a small town located in the heart of the Dayton metropolitan area. It was founded in 1837 by farmers and their families who were displaced by the Great Lakes Wars. North Olmsted has been called "the little engine that could" for its economy and population growth since the early 1800s. The city was named after John Eliot Morison, an American statesman and explorer who visited Ohio in 1836. The first permanent settlers in what is now North Olmsted were farmers from Connecticut and Rhode Island. They arrived on horseback to find a land that had been claimed by other groups, such as the French and British colonists. The initial inhabitants were mostly women and children, who managed to build houses using logs they collected from nearby woods. By 1850, there were over 100 residents living in North Olmsted. Over time, North Olmsted became known for its agricultural products such as apples, cornbread, cheese, soybeans, potatoes and flour. In 1863, a sawmill was built to process lumber brought overland from Michigan by wagonloads. The town's first post office was established in 1865. Between 1870-1920, Northern Illinois University (now Northwestern) moved into buildings on West Second Street in what is now downtown North Olmsted. This helped make NorthOlmsted one of the most important educational institutions in central Ohio during this time period! During World War II, many local businesses closed due to wartime rationing but overall businessactivity remained high due to demand from Allied forces stationed throughout central Ohio!
