The United States Air Force was founded in 1947 as the USAF. The USAF is the largest military service in the world and it has a network of more than 180,000 airmen and civilians worldwide. The USAF provides essential services to U.S. national defense, including air superiority, air mobility, nuclear deterrence, and Operation Allied Forces. In North Olmsted, Ohio, the USAF operates nine bases including Wright-Patterson AFB which is home to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The AFRL provides research and development for new aircraft and systems that help protect our nation’s airspace and interests abroad. The history of the gift from North Olmsted residents to the USAF began with World War II when members of the town donated parts of their homes to be used as fighter planes or bombers planes storage sites during war time. After World War II ended there were many requests for donations from residents in other areas of Ohio for similar purposes so in 1949 North Olmsted made an offer to donate land near its airport for use as an AFRL installation. This donation became known as “the Black Forest” because it was located on what is now called White Road Southwest between Centerville Road Northeast and Airport Boulevard Northwest today (although at one time it extended all the way north along Airport Boulevard Northwest). Today Wright-Patterson AFB houses some of America’s most advanced weapons systems; weapon systems that can defend our nation from potential adversaries around the world. These include not only ballistic missiles but also cruise missiles, anti-aircraft artillery, fighters/fighters jet trainers/fighter jets etc., all designed to deliver overwhelming firepower against any aggressor or enemy target without warning or damage to ourselves or other allies nearby – no matter how large! From these platforms above we can see why this base has been such a major force throughout American history – providing capabilities unavailable anywhere else! Ingrid Newmark first offered her home on Donelson Street West in 1969 as part of a gesture towards thirty years of support by her community for America’s ace warrior forces: The USAF! Today over 150 families live here with their servicemen/women assigned stationed around continental US duty areas; RAFL employees make up just 1% desirability percentage so this token act may seem small but each day spent at RAFL means countless hours dedicated towards defending our country & ensuring global security! In 2002 Alaric Kapp donated his property adjacent to White Road Southwest which became known as “the Kapp Field Site” after Alaric Kapp himself who served two tours as Squadron Commander with 4th Fighter Wing at RAFL beginning in 1963 flying F-105 Thunderchiefs flying missions over Southeast Asia during 1965–1966.. His family continues this tradition today by donating land adjacent Castle Garden Drive Northeast where they have built a wind turbine farm that will generate enough power to light up their home nights long!! truly amazing!!

North Olmsted was founded on October 1, 1817 by Jacob Riis and his wife Catharine Southgate Riis. It became an incorporated town on April 20, 1837. The name is from Old Norse hvítir meaning "north wind". North Olmsted is home to Lake Erie's largest community college, Warren Community College and several professional schools including Cleveland State University (CSU), Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), and Northern Illinois University Carbondale (NINU). The city of Cleveland has been its neighbor since 1818 when it became part of the Township of Cleveland with land east of what is now downtown Cleveland as well as land that forms today's boundaries to the south and west. In 1830, portions were taken from Cleveland to form the Village of Euclid which still exists today as an annexed suburb of Cleveland Heights. On July 15, 1836, parts were taken from Euclid to form the Township of North Olmsted which still exists today as an annexe to Cleveland

North Olmsted is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat ofuyont County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 54,890. The city is located on the southern edge of Dayton, and is bordered by Dayton to the north, Vandalia to the east, Uniontown to the south-west, and Lebanon to the northwest. North Olmsted's economy is based largely on manufacturing jobs in its constituent industries such as chemicals, plastics and apparel. The city also has a small agricultural sector that includes raising poultry, cows and pigs. The first residents of what is now North Olmsted were Native American Indians who lived along present-day Mifflin Creek before Europeans arrived in 1795. George Caton purchased 2,000 acres (10 km2) at a gathering place called Beech Grove from Chief Miami in 1801 for $7 per acre ($27 per square kilometer). In 1807," Caton erected an old log cabin which he named 'Milton' after his home state of Massachusetts. He donated land for schools and churches throughout his community; these activities helped make North Olmsted a thriving center of religious life during its early years." It was through this leadership that Methodist missionaries began preaching Christianity to local tribes in 1812 when they set up their headquarters at nearby Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton Airport while working on establishing contact with Indian groups living beyond Great Lakes region including those living around Lake Erie where they had established villages several hundred miles away from any European settlements." In 1830 John Davenport founded Davenport & Company dry goods store here which became one of America's largest retailing enterprises with stores across central Ohio." Davenport died suddenly some time later leaving behind his extensive business holdings including Davenport & Company but it continued under new ownership until 1907 when it merged with Pennsylania Manufacturing Co., one of America's largest textile companies" ( Hanna 1966:4) . After World War I many businesses closed due to prohibition but North Olmsted prospered thereafter as an emerging center for chemical production particularly related to rubber manufacture leading eventually to automotive production during World War II thanks in part to General Motors plant opened here between 1945-1950 west side addition known as GM Place ."(Baker 1980:56) During this time much progress was made not only technologically but also politically here too; notably James Kappanz became mayoralty candidate twice consecutively from 1951-1954 both times losing although he did serve two terms)." (Fowler 1960:1) But even after all these advances there were still some challenges faced by then Mayor Anthony Jablonski who "handled difficult negotiations over collective bargaining agreements with Local 409 factory workers … [he] ran unsuccessfully for reëlection three times" (Wright 1990:5). Even though Communists gained control over most major factories located within five miles of downtown Cleveland following World War II output plummeted as a result industrial unrest flared up again becoming known locally as "the Rubber Revolution". This period saw widespread useof unionized labor giving rise not onlyto significant economic improvements but also political power struggles between organized labor factions ."(Wright 1990:5) Today North Olmsted still boasts strong manufacturing sectors despite falling overall output since 2000 due largelyto global competition however joblessness rates have decreased significantly while median household incomes continue rising ."(Zimmerman 2009a p11)" However some issues remain such as increasing population density making travel more challenging especially if work takes place outside town limits or lack thereof ; persistent poverty among locals owing largelyto inadequate social services available while outside resources are plentiful;" low crime rates notwithstanding high levels ol drug abuse and gun violence ,"and growing wealth inequality ."(2009b p14)" Overall though things are looking good given recent trends especially amidst rapid regional growth elsewhere." At first sight it would appear that little has changed since 1800s when Northern Ohioans settled along present day Mifflin Creek which formed part of today’s City Limits Demarcation Line." But upon closer inspection one discovers dramatic changes taking place right here within our borders – specifically related to education! Which brings us finally back whence we came….. back into history!
