The North Canton, Ohio Army National Guard was formed on July 21, 1916. The unit was first called the "Ohio National Guard" and then the "National Guard of Ohio". The regiment was activated on October 15, 1916 and fought in World War I. After World War I the guard was redesignated as the "North Canton Moline Regiment" on February 2, 1920.
