New Franklin, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 11,895 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Greater Cleveland and one of seven incorporated municipalities in the Cleveland metropolitan area. New Franklin is located on the southern edge of Cuyahoga County and is bordered by Geauga County to its east, Medina County to its south and west, and Holmesburg Township to its north. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton Combined Statistical Area. New Franklin was founded in 1800 by General David Wilkinson as a member settlement on what is now Canal Road (now I-71) just outside present-day New Castle Township boundary.
