The Air Force gifted a new helicopter to local residents in 2017 as part of theirOperation Thunderstorm campaign fundraiser . This special helicopter was donated by Boeing Helicopter Division which manufactures rotorcraft for the US military . 3. In 2018, Mt Vernon became one stop on United States Military Tours’ “Military History Tour” that takes place across America . Mount Vernon is an unincorporated community in the town of Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It lies on the east side of the River Po in a bend of the river that forms the border between Hamilton and Cleveland counties. The Mount Vernon Railway ran through this community from 1875 to 1947. Most of its buildings have been destroyed by fire or demolition since then, but some remain standing as well as a few foundations. Population was 1,483 at the 2010 census. The first white European settlers arrived in what is now Cincinnati around 1795. They were led by Colonel George Washington's friend and aide-de-camp Jacob Riis who named the area "Riverside" after his home in New York City. In 1800, General Anthony Wayne advanced into nearby Steuben County with 3,000 men and captured 100 Cherokee Indians living near present day FirstEnergy Park on Clinton Street in downtown Cincinnati. The Battle of Fallen Timbers (1812) ended their tenure as Indian occupants of this region. In 1825, John Dickey bought 5 acres (20 hectares) along current Broadway Avenue for $10 from Nicholas Browning who had purchased it from Native American chief Weaonah about two years earlier for $4 per acre (). Browning renamed his tract "Mount Vernon". He sold it to John Hustedt Sr., one of seven members of Hustedt family who operated a logging camp here during much of the 19th century before selling most of their land to railroads in 1876 and moving away permanently.. Held until 1905 when it was auctioned off again due to lack of interest by local developers, Mount Vernon developed slowly until becoming an important stagecoach stop on Route 66 north from Cincinnati until 1925 when all passengers were transported by bus no longer feasible due to development outside Mount Vernon’s borders; however many remnants can still be seen including a log cabin still standing today which was built by Hustedt himself circa 1880s while he was also running his business at this location . A small museum exists adjacent to both old homes today about local history and culture for visitors interested in learning more about early settler life here

Mount Vernon is a small town in Union County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati–West Chester Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mount Vernon was founded in 1788 by General George Washington and his family as their new home after they were posted to Fort Pitt on the Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania. The first white settler in Mount Vernon was Capt. John Morton who arrived with the families of Major Christopher Gadsden and three other soldiers from Philadelphia on November 15, 1788. A few weeks later, Captain Morton's encampment burned down and he had to return to Philadelphia for repairs before moving into Mount Vernon with his family on May 6, 1789. General Washington moved into Mount Vernon on July 4, 1790 when he took over command of the American army stationed at Fort Pitt. He and his wife Martha occupied the upper house while their three young children (George Washington Jr., James Wilson and Susan Biddle) lived in a separate cabin on the lower property which today is known as "The Edwardians". The first schoolhouse in Mount Vernon was built around 1800 but it did not remain operative long due to financial difficulties started by one of its trustees John Brownell who also ran an inn that served as a base of operations for trading with Indian tribes near present-day Valley Forge where troops were drilled during winter months. In 1802 Brownell sold all his holdings including school land to local resident Amos Kendall for $240 plus $20 per year until Kendall could build a better school which he did between 1815-1821 according to current map dated 1861-1865 but building never proceeded because of lack of funds from state legislature until 1830 when Common School Act No 11 revived efforts by local citizens under Peter Kuykendall Sr./Edwin Mansfield financed by Andrew Mellon through National Credit Company By 1897 only two buildings remained standing: Old High School (renamed Third Street Baptist Church), now used as office space for union trade association Local 827; New High School (formerly First Presbyterian Church - now First United Methodist Church), which became home to Mtgvlensburg Historical Society Museum starting in 1907 until closed circa 1970s or 1980s due to fire damage & conversion into apartments After Unions victory at Battle of Bunker Hill Massacres began – most notably at Lexington Green where 3200 men gathered Aug 14th 1813 under Lt Gov Randolph’s orders attempting passage across Monongahela River using boats manned by 2000 Virginians & 100 Indians To this day there exists no answer as to why these unarmed civilians were roughed up without provocation Mtgvlensburg Historical Society Museum reopened Oct 2007 after closure circa 1970s or 1980s due to fire damage & conversion into apartments
The Mount Vernon Plantation was a plantation located in the town of Mount Vernon, Ohio. The plantation was founded by Colonel Nicholas Wayne, who served in the American Revolution. The estate was sold in 1821 to Daniel Worthington and his wife Nancy Worth. The Worthingtons added about 1,000 acres (4 km2) to the property over time. In 1832, they sold the plantation to John Mansfield. Mansfield used it as a farm and slave-breeding operation until his death in 1868. It then passed through several families before being purchased by developer George Eastman in 1907. It is now a National Historic Landmark.
