Montgomery, Ohio is a small town in the state of Ohio. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Springfield, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Montgomery was founded in 1827 as a post office and has been housed in different buildings since then. This small community has seen many changes over the years and today it is a thriving center for commerce and culture. The first settlers to Montgomery arrived from Baltimore in 1827. They were led by Captain John Smith, who decided to establish a post office in what is now Montgomery because he thought it would be an important stop on his journey northward. The first building used for mail service was built on West Main Street in 1829. In 1840, the Post Office Department moved to its present location on North Broadway Avenue after purchasing land from local farmers for that purpose. At that time, there were only six homes in Montgomery and postal services were provided by wagon or horseback trips between these homes and the post office. In 1858, when Ohio became a state, Montgomery became part of Jefferson County and continued to serve as its primary town until 1861 when it seceded from Jefferson County to become Hamilton County under the new state government system. On July 1st of that year, renamed Dayton after James Kenedy Dayton – one of the founder members of Congress from Ohio – Montgomery re-joined Hamilton County as its second city status within two days with about two hundred residents living therein according to county records。 In 1865, when Dayton began serving as an independent city Limits (the limits then included most of Aurora Township) due largely to strong growth among workers commuting into downtown Dayton especially during manufacturing boom times; much like other American cities during this time period; however wardships changing boundaries allowed more people living outside limits eastward into township boundaries which caused some residents tension but ultimately agreement among all parties concerned about continuing growth potential; eventually becoming City Limits once again with annexation by Dayton proper effective January 1st 1870 (). Montgomery, Ohio is a small town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–area city of Dayton. Montgomery's ZIP code is 15202. The Montgomery community began as a log cabin settlement near the confluence of the Maumee and Scioto Rivers in 1814. This early community was known as "Montgomery" because General Lafayette had staying here while he visited Upper Sandusky in 1781. In 1830, John Capps startedgrant main post office in this area and named it after his father-in-law from Virginia who had come to America to farm with him in 1824. In 1836, Judge James Kenedy donated land for a public school in what is now Montgomery. The first school building was built on Brush Street and opened on December 6th, 1836 by Superintendent James Aiken (1813-1886). At its peak enrollment in 1840 there were 109 pupils attending school at Montgomeryschool; however this number decreased over time due to lack of funding and other World War II related activities that took away students’ opportunities to attend school during those years. subsequent trustees of the public school district included Capts Daniel Gentry (1822-1905), Elijah Hargrave (1827-1900), John Prentice (1828-1909) and Ebenezer Frye (1787-1855). From 1861 until 1865, when Union troops burned down many local schools across central Ohio during the American Civil War efforts to suppress slavery within their borders - including Montgomery - students attended State run academies rather than local schools sanctioned by the school board which continued until 1865 when all state supported academies were discontinued statewide effective January 1st following passage of the 1863 Morrill Act which provided for compulsory instruction for all citizens regardless of religious affiliation or political views within each state – thus ended any hope thatmontgomery could retain its own independent academy status quo ante 64 years prior!
