There is no precise history of the national guard in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, but the organization has been present since at least 1861. The first national guard unit was organized on October 10, 1861, when a group of soldiers from Akron volunteered to serve in the Union army. At that time, military service within Ohio was limited to men over the age of 18 and citizens were not allowed to enlist in the military. The first unit stationed in Middleburg Heights was called Company A and served until late 1861. Company A disbanded due to lack of volunteers and company members were reassigned to other units or discharged. However, Company B did not disband until 1862 because they had more volunteers than any other company. In 1863, a new regiment called the 3rd Brigade National Guard was created by order of President Abraham Lincoln. The brigade consisted of three companies: Company C from Cleveland; Company D from Youngstown; and Company E from Middletown. In 1865, a new brigade called 4th Brigade National Guard was formed by order of President Andrew Johnson. The brigade consisted of four companies: Companies H (formerly 1st Regiment), I (formerly 2nd Regiment), K (formerly 3rd Regiment), and L (formerly 4th Regiment). When troops were mobilized for duty during the American Civil War on April 12, 1861, all residents between 18 years old and 30 years old became eligible for militia service if they could furnish an Oath or Declaration Of Allegiance form and pay $25 per year into society’s fund which would be used toward school funding as well as uniform allowances while serving with their local militia unit under state command. Militia service continued even after Ohio became Confederate territory on April 9th due to inadequate federal supportduring the war effort- primarily because there wasn’t enough money available for uniforms or armaments . After hostilities ended on May 6th 1861 all residents were mustered out regardless if they had served with their local militia unit or not- except those who had sworn affidavits swearing they would never again fight against America or its allies . However many middle class residents decided to stay soldierly thruout Reconstruction period- especially women who took up arms as nurses in Red River Campaign along side men After Reconstruction period ended most men returned home but some women decided it was better suited them leave town so they started militias themselves also name “National Guards” these militias still functioned today

The village was founded on a tract of land that John Goudreau donated to the state for use as a township in 1881. The first post office was established in Middleburg Heights on April 1, 1882. In 1956, Congress passed a bill authorizing the activation of up to 50% of all reserve troopsirting any conflict aroundthe world without prior notification to either Service Headquarters or Congress. Middleburg Heights is a small town located in the unincorporated community of Middleburg, Ohio. The local history of Middleburg Heights can be traced back to 1810, when James and Ann (Foley) Middleburg purchased 2,200 acres of land from the Shawnee Indians. Over time, the village has grown and changed significantly; however, its core values remain unchanged. In 1814, Middleburg Heights was renamed after General George Washington's home on Mount Vernon plantation in Virginia. In 1826, the family that owned the town sold it to John Daugherty for $1 million. Daugherty developed it as a bedroom community for Cincinnatians rich enough to afford such an investment. By 1922, however, he had died and his son took over management of the town. Daugherty's heirs continued to develop the town until their death in 1957. During this time period, they also improved schools and built a courthouse and other civic amenities. In 1984, Middleburgh Heights became part of the city of Dayton through annexation by Dayton Township. As a result of this change in government structure, many functions previously conducted within Middleburgh Heights were shifted to downtown Dayton or other nearby municipalities during this time period. Today, middle-class residents continue to live here while working in larger metropolitan areas outside of Dayton; nevertheless there is still much that makesMiddleborough Hills feel like home to its citizens. One example is its focus on cultural significance: every year during Columbus Day weekend (October 4th), locals celebrate Native American culture with arts and crafts events throughout the village as well as food booths at various parks across town square Mazomanie Park near where General Washington once lived (and where today you will find a playground). Additionally (though not exclusively), Midtown Market remains one of downtown Dayton’s most popular tourist attractions – selling everything from grocery items to souvenirs – making it easy for locals who want something different each day without having too much trouble finding what they need elsewhere within minutes’ walk!
Middleburg Heights was a large, agricultural community in Medina County, Ohio. The area now known as Middleburg Heights was first settled by European Americans in the early 1800s. The name comes from the land's western bank, which is located at the present-day intersection of State Route 12 and State Route 8. In 1811, John Middlebury, an American Revolutionary War veteran and member of the original township board, donated 4 acres (1 km2) of his farm to Medina County for use as a county seat. Middlebury's donation formed the nucleus of what is now Middleburg Heights. The first post office in Middleburg Heights was established on December 15, 1836. The townspeople built a courthouse and jail in 1839. The first school in Middleburg Heights was opened in 1840. In 1850, a railroad station was built on the east side of State Route 12 just north of where it currently stands. That same year saw the opening of one of Medina County's three churches – First Baptist Church – which still operates today. In 1868, when Cincinnati annexed parts of Medina County into its city limits, Middleburgh Heights became part of that city and lost its status as a rural community. However, because it had been part of Cincinnati since before that annexation occurred, some residents continue to call themselves "Middleburges" to this day even though they live outside the city boundaries today. The last resident to leave Middleburgh Heights died in 1984; all remaining residents have since moved out or left for other reasons within recent years leaving behind few memories aside from their children who visit often during summertime from nearby Jackson Township
