The Ohio Army National Guard's 129th Infantry Regiment was organized on November 15, 1907, at Columbus. The regiment was first stationed in Cleveland and then at Youngstown. In 1912, the regiment moved to Bellevue and then to Middleburg Heights. The regiment was redesignated as the 129th Infantry Regiment on December 1, 1912. The unit served in World War I; during that war it fought in battles such as the Battle of Belleau Wood and the Battle of Ypres. After the war, the regiment returned to Cleveland and was disbanded on September 30, 1919.

Middleburg Heights is a small town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,837 at the 2000 census. Middleburg Heights is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Middleburg Heights was founded in 1819 by James Mapes and his wife Ann as a settlement on the Scioto River near modern day Marysville. The first settlers were Methodists from Northumberland County in England who came over on the ship "Mayflower". They named their new community after Mount Holyoke College (now Harvard University). Mapes had been educated at this institution and he desired to establish an English education for his children so they could join him in America. The first school in Middleburg Heights was built on what is now Elm Street. In 1824, Methodist immigrants John Kline and Nicholas Davenport dedicated a addition to the church which became known as “The Klines” chapel. By 1830, there were four schools in Middleburg Heights: one for white children and three for colored children with one free black child. In 1834, William McKinley was elected President of the United States and many of his policies were based upon his belief that Americans should have an equal opportunity to succeed regardless of race or color. As a result of this belief, McKinley ordered all public buildings to be segregated by race until such time as progress could be made towards integration within American society. This order did not go into effect until after his death in 1901 when it was rescinded by then president Theodore Roosevelt under pressure from labor unions and civil rights leaders like Rev Jesse Jackson Sr.). When McKinley died, much discussion took place about whether or not he had beenially assassinated because of this order or whether something more sinister may have happened but no definitive evidence has ever been found linking McKinley's death to any organized crime figure(s). In 1882, Old Mrs Mapes donated land across from her childhood home on Washington Avenue (later renamed Euclid Avenue) to build what would become Middleburg High School; also called "Majestic" at that time due to its grandeur – it still remains one of the most beautiful high schools in America today! Majestic served as both middle school and high school until 1971 when it changed its name back to Middleburg Heights High School following Ohio's statewide switchover from grades 9-12 to 10th grade graduation requirements pursuant to House Bill 3792 which passed unanimously through both chambers of the Ohio General Assembly on December 4th,. Due largely to Majestic's popularity among students and educators alike during its years as both a middle/high school & postsecondary educational institution; attendance rates soared past 90% throughout 10th graders' final termugarformancerequirements); many alumnistill attend classes full-time even after completing college degree programs! Middleburg Heights was founded in 1792 as a small settlement on the east side of the Monongahela River. In 1814, it became a town and was named for Major General James Middlebury, who served in the American Revolution. The community grew rapidly during the 19th century, and by 1870 it had over 1,500 residents. By 1920, Middleburg Heights had become an urban center with a population of over 5,000 people. It experienced significant growth during World War II as thousands of soldiers moved to the area to serve in the war effort. After the war ended, Middleburg Heights experienced a period of decline and decline until its resurgence during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Today, Middleburg Heights is one of Ohio's most vibrant communities with a rich history that can be enjoyed by all who live there.
