Miamisburg is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, seat of Clark County. The population was 54,553 at the 2010 census.[1] It is part of the Dayton–Daytona Beach–Muncie, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Miamisburg is known for its cheese and maize products which are sold throughout central Ohio and parts of Indiana. The first permanent settler in what would become Miamisburg was David Sibley in 1796.[2] The town was platted on March 7, 1814 by a group of investors led by George Washington Carver, Jr., father of Sunbeam Steel founder George Singer Carver. At that time it consisted only of a small area around the Sibley home on the east side of town square.[3] In 1824, Miamisburg became an organized village when it adopted a charter from Athens Township. By 1830, however, Miamisburg had outgrown its limited boundaries and annexed other villages such as Portsmouth and Bellefontaine[4]. On July 1, 1830,[5] Athens Township discontinued recognition as an operating township within Clark County and ceded all thereof to Miamisburg under terms set forth in a plat filed with the county court two days later (July 2).[6][7][8][9][10] On November 3rd 1870 United States vistsioner Nathaniel Lyon found that while Athens Township technically continued to exist as an incorporated municipality until its dissolution on December 15th 1865 by order Of The General Assembly Of Ohio (charter No 8), due to exclusive economic development within Clark County by Cincinnati industrialist Augustus Kelley [11], there was no legal obligation for Swansea-based Athens Township residents to attend or participate in municipal proceedings; therefore they ceased to have any governing authority over their own village status quo ante facto".[12]:244 On January 1st 1907 Miamisburg formed an annexation relationship with Portsmouth[13]:253 with both cities claiming delivery of water from Spring Creek watershed but without asking for annexation or vote from their respective villages. As part as understanding this potential conflictual situation between cities/villages both decided notto pursue litigation despite some differences between their water service plans which evolved into fullblown lawsuits several years later[14]:269

Miamisburg is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Mahoning County. The population was 21,914 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Mahoning County after Youngstown and Wilberforce. Miamisburg is also one of three cities in Greater Cleveland, along with Cleveland Heights and Euclid Heights. The first settler in what would become Miamisburg was David Brown who arrived on a ship from Kingston, England with his family on July 2, 1800. He founded a small farm near present day downtown Miamisburg. Brown died within weeks of arrival in what is now Mahoning County. The first post office was established at Miamisburg on December 1, 1800 by John Hennigan as part of the Northwest TerritoryPost Office Act passed by Congress that year to encourage settlement in that area by Americans east of the Appalachian Mountains (the area then included much of modern-day Ohio). The town's name comes from James Millin's 1827 map which featured a trading post called "Miamitisburgh." It likely was named for James Millin – an American Revolutionary War veteran and slaveholder – because he lived near where Miamisburg would be located many years later. A group of local farmers began to build homes around this original trading post about 1830; this site is now known as Millin Park Avenue (formerly Main Street). In 1837, landowner Nathan Cummings donated land to form Township No. 4 west of downtown for public school purposes; this site became village square today when it merged into City limits in 1922majority white township citizens applied for nationalhood via referendum but declined due to discrimination against black citizens during that time period). In 1841, voters approved adding a plat for Village No2 south side between Delaware and West streets east/west line just north of current day Third Street intersection due to increasing business activity surrounding vacated mills situated thereabouts caused byFactory fire destroyed two years earlier inside Enoch Pratt Institute building on First Ave., across street from present day library & park headquarters buildings! Manufacturing operations stopped abruptly after Factory fire while students were attending college classes nearby! This resulted in increased development around corner 3rd St.; physical evidence still exists today including several abandoned brick factories lay dormant until excavation & restoration began almost 50 years ago! Restoration started soon after mill demolition becoming visible on property next door!! The $4 million dollar project finally opened its doors to the public on November 6th, 1994!!! Today’s Goodman Art Gallery overlooks once popular “Millinsburgh Green” which stretched from Third Street northeast to Seventh Street southwest back then bordered mills alley extending all the way down Cooley Ave., now University Circle shopping center parking lot!!!! That same year saw opening up attempts by other communities adjacent: Mayfield Heights attempted setting up shop right off I-271 exit ramp just outside City Limits; Sheffield offered services similar to those now provided by CLEVELAND HEIGHTS Municipal Services Department directly opposite former steel works Site #2 currently occupied by Cuyahoga County Courthouse Annex!!! After more than 25 years involved various planning stages & approvals thru numerous funding sources ultimately resulting in City Assets being leased back outby new Mayor Jerry Newell effective January 1st 2011 thru expiration date September 30th 2017 less than one week before his term ends!!!!! Today’s thriving community offers opportunities for employment within Government services throughout multiple departments thanks largely too strong economy with plus job growth rates seen every month ++ In 1851 Joshua Slocum came overland from Connecticut aboard raft 120 miles long and 5 days old landing at Sandusky Bay about 12 miles due North Eastof present day Akron - land grant given him free + 500 acres iwf orchard lying westerly boundary w/Sandusky River adjourning
Miamisburg is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,512 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Miamisburg was explorer John C. Frémont on July 8, 1814. He named it for Miami of Ohio (now Fort Wayne), a Cherokee Nation village near modern-day Mentor. The first settler in what is now Miamisburg was George Washburn in 1800. A post office was established at Miamisburg on November 15, 1800 by Josiah Harmar with the name "Washburn." In 1812, General David Denny's army marched through Mahoning County and stopped at the forks of the Wabash River near present-day Miamisburg and founded a new settlement called Dayton on May 12th as part of his campaign against Native American resistance to white settlement throughout central Ohio. On July 4th of that year, after weeks marching through heavy rains and mud while under cannon fire from entrenched Indian positions along the river's banks, General Denny arrived at Dayton and ordered its inhabitants to leave because he felt they were built upon sacred land belonging to the Cherokees which he considered sacrilege under English law. By 1830 there were over 100 residents living in Dayton proper while also serving as farmers and traders in neighboring towns such as Portsmouth and Parma. When route 9 opened up eastward through present day Mahoning County during the early 19th century more people began moving into Miamisburg from surrounding villages including Portsmouth/Parma and Delaware/Licking Counties due to its advantages as an agricultural center with ample water resources for farming purposes as well as its easy access by road to other settlements further east across Ohiopyle Lake. On October 6th, 1836 US President Andrew Jackson made history when he issued an executive order emancipating all slaves within six months of their purchase or free status being achieved elsewhere in the Union though this order did not take effect until January 1st, 1837 due to complaints from slave owners back home in Georgia who claimed their property had been taken without compensation or notification! That same year saw another landmark event when construction began on what would become today’s downtown area comprising parts of three buildings still extant today: First Baptist Church (later known as First Methodist Episcopal), School House (now Richland Hills Bible Church) & Masonic Temple (built around 1860). The town thrived economically thanks largely to heavy industry located along Route 9 such as breweries (the first being Fenton Brewery built around 1790) brickyards (beginning production around 1840) leather tanneries & cotton ginners until it became effectively shuttered following World War II when all but one brewery closed down; however current First Baptist Church still remains standing vacant most likely used for religious services only! In 1881 Beecher Brothers department store opened doors full force followed by Sears Roebuck & Company establishing itself here soon thereafter becoming one ofohio’s largest retailers both overall size wise (& permanently providing jobs for many during those years) & Angie’s Department Store actually opening here just prior to that becoming Ohiopyle Mall!!! Overall this otherwise small town experienced some pretty intense growth over several decades culminating with rapid annexation by larger suburban communities resulting in a population increase approaching 3k folks by 1920!!! It wasn’t until 1963 when prohibition laws were repealed meaning again much needed job creation right here IN OHIO!! This brought about even more growth spurt leading finally Toohopyle Mall becoming reality nearly 40 years later ???
