The Mentor Air Force Base Museum has a long history of giving back to the community. The base first gave away items in 1945, when it opened as a military airbase. In 1951, the museum began stocking donated items from the surrounding community and began selling items itself. In 1978, the museum founded its own gift shop called the Museum Shop. Mentor, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Ross County. The population was 31,057 at the 2010 census and is estimated to be 37,500 by 2020. Mentor was founded in 1817 by Reuben Denny as a small community on the east bank of the Scioto River. The first settler in what is now Mentor Township was Abram Silver who arrived in 1817 from Pennsylvania with his family. In 1830, silver prospectors discovered rich silver veins near present-day Mentor. This led to an influx of settlers and development around this site; businesses like mills, lumberyards, foundries and water systems were built soon after. By 1840, Mentor had become one of the largest cities in western Ohio with over 100 residents living there full-time or part-time on a single block or street corner! The late 1800s were tough years for young people starting out in America; many lost their homes during the Panic of 1893 that followed America's entry into World War I (the Great Depression). However, mentoring programs had been started up throughout Cleveland during this time to help these young men & women get back on their feet and start new lives under guidance/support from older people who could give them some stability and direction through work (& friendship). These programs became known as "mentoring associations" because most members worked together as volunteers for specific goals such as business growth & stabilization or home ownership & improvement - anything that would improve someone's life chances for success. Today we still see these types of organizations operating all over America - often providing valuable assistance & support to individuals seeking opportunity & progress both inside & outside their own lives! In 1911 when Ross County was granted its own government, it made it easy for residents to get involved politically by establishing a system called township trusteeships which allowed citizens 3 deputies per township instead of 1 (at that time only 2 officials per township). This gave townships more say about how their affairs were run& also helped encourage investment& entrepreneurship within their borders! In 1920 Ross County annexed neighboring Summit County due to land sales completed during WWI between America's allies England & France; now known as downtown Akron! However much larger than either Mentor or Rossville at that time (estimated population over 22,000), Akron quickly shrunk back down to its original size thanks largely to restrictive zoning laws that limited development opportunities within city limits! The assistedliving industry soon sprang up around here too – folks wanting peaceful retirement didn't want noisy hospitals right next door! With technology becoming ever more popular (& affordable), seniors began looking for places where they could stayNG while enjoying convenient amenities like grocery shopping nearby etc…. It wasn't until 2002 when aging infrastructure began crumbling all over Northeast Ohio resulting in huge homeless encampments scattered across several neighborhoods adjacent to downtown – finally causing Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley's call for action….. After much discussion between City Hall staff members (& public) our team came up with an innovative plan which evolved into Arbor Village – an elderly care facility specifically designed for seniors living within walking distance OFDowntown Cincinnati!! Today you can find many different types of assisted living facilities scattered throughout Northeast Ohio - each tailored specifically towards meetinG different needs/weariness levels!!! Mentor, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Sandusky County. The population was 19,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo metropolitan area. The first European to visit Mentor was George Washington in 1795. He and his aide John Adams stopped at the town on their way from Boston to Youngstown, then walked 3 miles (4 km). Mentor's first post office opened in 1819. It became an important transportation hub for settlers moving westward through what is now Sandusky County. In 1827, Mentor became the site of one of two initial land sales in Holmes County that led to creation of that county; other sale sites were Casa Grande and Xenia. In 1828, William Weathers donated 2 acres (0.8 km2) south of present-day Mentor for public use as a parkland square known as "Weathers Square." In 1829, John Daugherty bought 1 acre (0.8 km2) east of present-day Mentor from David Acheson for $5 per acre ($100 per hectare). In 1830, Phebe Morse donated 2 acres (0.8 km2) north of present-day Mentor to become a schoolhouse and graveyard for her children and friends who had been killed in smallpox epidemics during this time period near Cincinnati."Phebe Morse: An American Lady," University Park Press website In 1831, Isaac McCoy donated 1/4 acre (1 ha), Bruskell Road SW corner current day Elmira Road NE corner Stanton Avenue NE for $50 per annum with title to subdue wild hogs on it. In 1832–33, Robert Henshaw donated 20 acres (80 ha), east side of current day Main Street between Brush Road and Parsons Chapel Road NW corner Stream Drive NW., now called "Henshaw Farm". On July 12th 1840 three men named James Conebaugh hauled logs down 4 chainsaw cuts into 4 feet 10 inches by 24 inches deep (−18 m or 6 m above ground level) pine tree located about 800 yd (−460 m or 200 ydiles) due east from where he now stands just off modern day I-75 exit 150 south shoulder.
