Maumee (pronounced mah-muh-seh) is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, with a population of 68,597 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat and largest city in Lucas County. The name was first given to an area now located in Maumee Township, Cuyahoga County, by Captain James Niles during the American Civil War for his part in that conflict. The town of Maumee was platted on July 4, 1824 by Nathan Hale and others under the name of Portsmouth Heights due to its distance from any other settlements in that vicinity at that time. The origin of the present name is unknown but it may be derived from either "mah" or "mae" meaning "big house." On November 14, 1830, while still under consideration for appointment as justice of peace for Lucas County, Samuel Yates proposed naming the town after General John Averell Harney who had destroyed Fort Dearborn near Perrysburg two years earlier during an Indian war campaign then known as the Black Hawk War; this proposal was accepted and Harney's grave was located within what is now downtown Maumee. The first store built in Maumee was established on May 4, 1831 by Jno. Hetherington & Co.; it stood on Main Street between State and Union Streets. In 1836 Wm Fenton opened a dry goods store on Court Street which became one ofMAUMEE’s most important commercial arteries until supplanted by Middletown Road east thereof about 1850 In 1848 Mr Ransom erected a large frame building known as “the Bank†which still stands today across High Street from City Hall . It served as both bank and post office until1896 whenMaumee Post Office moved into new headquarters at 216 West High Street . From 1840 to 1865 Grote Bros Candles operated a grocery store at Seventh Avenue and Main Streets ; later they sold their business to Jno Fields who ran it continuously until his death in 1886 In 1865 David Rice started operating an ice cream parlor at Third Avenue and Hubbard Streets which continued operation until 1934 Mrs Rice died suddenly three years later leaving her parlor unoccupied so it reverted back to David Rice who operated it continuously until his death also .In 1922 Wm Burchfield started manufacturing bicycles here with his fatherWm Burchfield Sr having founded Bicycles Incorporated four years earlier In 1928 Geo Sells built him 9 acre Agricultural land here disposing of many residential lots already developed around him including portions now belonging to Maumee Township government buildingsGEO Sells descendants live there today along with their families There are several other early businesses such as: Champion & Spruce Foundry (established1830), Deering Seed Company (founded1838), Phelps Dodge Pipe Works(established1847), etc., active prior to 1830s not extant anymore but reported elsewhere This Commercial Historic District has been listed on National Registerof Historic Places since 1984

By 1830, café culture had spread throughout Europe and North America. From then until World War II, coffee continued to be popular all over the world. Since World War II however, there has been a decline in popularity of coffee as it has become more difficult to find quality beans and produce them commercially successfully. However, some places where coffee still remains popular include Ethiopia and Indonesia. There are many reasons why this may bethe case; one reason being that these countries have complex histories with a lot of layers of history that can influence their cuisine/culture/economy/etcetera (eighth Amendment). After the war ended in 1865, Cleveland experienced several waves of migration: Irish immigrants in 1870; Germans in 1880; Italians in 1920; Poles in 1930; and Mexicans in 1940. Today, Cleveland is a vibrant city with multiple cultural attractions such as its art galleries, theaters, and museums. It has also been home to many major league sports teams including the Cleveland Indians baseball team and two NBA teams - the Cavaliers (now known as the Cavs) and the Pistons - both of which have played at The Quicken Loans Arena since 1988. In addition to its rich history and culture, Maumee is also known for its stunning views of Lake Erie and downtown Shipshewick Township which are easily accessible via public transportation or on foot from downtown Cleveland.
In 1812, the United States acquired land in what is now Maumee, Ohio from the British. The area was part of Northwest Territory and it was not until 1827 that the county was organized. The first courthouse was built in 1832. In 1840, a school opened in Maumee and remained in operation until 1954. In 1851, a railroad station was built in town and remains active today.
