The first coffee shop in Massillon was founded by John S. Brown in 1892. The business thrived for many years, and even through Prohibition it continued to serve its customers. In 1933, the business closed its doors following a fire that destroyed much of the building. It reopened under new ownership in 1934 and continues to serve as a popular local spot today.

Over time, different variations on modern coffee such as skimmed milk (latte), cappuccino, iced tea, roasts for breakfast or afternoon tea have appeared along with various flavors such as chocolate chip cookie doughnut (espresso) and pumpkin spice latte (chocolate). The Town of Massillon is located in the northwestern part of Ohio, about 20 miles from Cincinnati. It was named for Colonel James Wilkinson, an early settler and a major player in the development of the area. The town began to grow rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s, thanks to its importance as a manufacturing center and its location on the main route between Cincinnati and Cleveland. In 1903, Massillon became one of four towns in Ohio designated as a national military training ground by President Theodore Roosevelt. The town's rapid growth led to problems, however, including overcrowding and pollution caused by industrial production. In 1907, Massillon voters passed a referendum authorizing incorporation into the city of Cincinnati. This move effectively ended Massillon's economic prominence and left it struggling to keep up with Cincinnati's growth. By 1920, massilon had shrunk to just over 1,000 residents; however, its historical significance has not beendiminished: The town played an important role in developing both American democracy and World War II weaponry.
On October 15, 1788, Price's Legion of Hurons and Wyandots totaled 1,500 men in what would become the most successful military engagement against Native Americans in Ohio history. The battle took place at a location called the Battle of Fallen Timbers on the Scioto River. General George Washington's forces had been ordered to march south to attack Price's force under the pretext that they were attacking British-occupied territory. However, when they arrived at the falls, Washington realized that this was actually an ambush and he abandoned his plan. After losing almost 400 men including many officers and men of high rank, Price's force retreated back upriver towards their winter quarters.
