Others suggest that massalones were simply those who had made their homes within mill towns such as Sandusky or Youngstown before moving out to establish themselves elsewhere in central Ohio during this time period; however, it remains an accepted term today throughout much of Greater Cincinnati proper where many people carry at least one connection to Massillon ancestry firmly embedded within their identity even if they have never set foot there since childhood or adulthood

Massillon is a city in central Ohio, United States. The population was 102,872 at the 2010 census. The name comes from an English word meaning "a mass of corn" and first appears on a map in 1796. It is located in the southwestern corner of the state and is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land that became Massillon was donated by Captain John Cranch to Major General David Wilkinson in 1802 as part of a treaty between Great Britain and Spain. In 1812, Wilkinson named it after his friend, Colonel George Washington Parke Masson (1754-1828). The town began as a small agricultural village with about 25 residents. By 1830, Massillon had developed into a town with over 100 inhabitants. In 1836, the Erie Canal was completed through Massillon and this led to increased trade within and outside of Massillon proper. Businesses grew rapidly thanks to transportation improvements made during that time including horse drawn cars and streetcars. In 1840, Mayor Moses Young proposed creating an academy for young men to learn engineering skills so that they could become engineers or members of the public officials responsible for maintaining highways and bridges across Ohio River valleys. At first opposed by many who felt Engineering would only lead to more jobs for womenfolk, Young prevailed; accordingly, on January 1st of that year, the Academy opened its doors with 15 boys studying under six experienced professors*. During World War II* local businesses supplied materials for military production including aircraft construction.* After hostilities ended in 1945*, many manufacturing jobs were lost because American war production shifted towards European Union suppliers.* However* since 1970*, when massilon reestablished itself as an economically vibrant community engaged in arts and commerce*, Manufacturing has again become an important sectorof local economy*. Today *Massilion's middle class* continues to flourish while its downtown core remains vibrant thanks to new restaurants*, galleries*,aterms(*and even now there are!)*and cultural events** which attract people from all around central Ohio!
