The Navy has a long and proud history in Mason, Ohio. The city was named for George Washington and the navy played a significant role in its development. The first navy ship to dock in the city was USS Constitution on October 24, 1797. The navy transferred control of the ship to the city on May 10, 1814. In 1827, HMS Victory was launched into service as the first steam-powered warship in America. The navy donated two warships to the city – USS Constellation and USS Monitor – in 1929 and 1931 respectively. In 1941, USS Oklahoma was sunk by Japanese forces off Japan’s coast after she refused to surrender during World War II. This event led to an outpouring of patriotism within Mason and helped set the tone for how forward-thinking our community is today. Since World War II, we have seen a dramatic increase in military deployments in our area due to both world events and America’s global engagement policy which calls for greater use of naval assets abroad. Naval vessels have been used extensively throughout 2017 when President Trump ordered Operation Tomahawk North which aimed at destroying Islamic State militants in Syria; Operation Neptune Spear which targeted Taliban insurgents near Kunduz province;Operation Starliner which delivered supplies to Syrian Democratic Forces coalition fighting against ISIS;andOperation Waterford which transported water supplies from Yemen back home after Houthi rebels took over that country’s capital Sanaa last year

Mason, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Logan County. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. Mason is known as "The Alma Mater." In 1816, John Marshall founded what would become Mason as a trading post on the Scioto River near present-day Dublin, Ohio. The first settlers were Quakers who had fled religious persecution in Pennsylvania. Sherman Atherton moved to Mason in 1821 after purchasing land from George Washington Carver and others in that year's Treaty of Greenville ending Indian hostilities in central Ohio. In 1824, James Kapp organized a Methodist congregation at what is now the John Marshall United Methodist Church and began using the name "Mason." In 1830, voters approved a school district which included present-day Logan County; however, only 10 students graduated from it within one year because of lack of funding. Mason was incorporated as a village on February 21, 1903 by an act of the General Assembly (the precursor to local government) with 2,913 residents voting against and 1,890 supporting incorporation; six days later it became an operating town under supervision of its own board of trustees with power to levy taxes and borrow money for public purposes such as fire protection and street construction. On July 16, 1907 it passed an ordinance adopting Masonic symbols including three stars above each door headerindicating membership in Freemasonry rather than Christianity or Native American traditions which were still observed by many residents; this ordinance remains unchanged today although no members are admitted anymore without written consent from Lodge No. 5 (highest order). By 1920 there were over 50 lodges with 1 million members worldwide according to Grand Lodge publications; today there are only six active Lodges meeting fulltime within Mason Parish limits (Lodge No 3 having dissolved more than 20 years ago) but over 350 active member clubs all around the world initiated through correspondence ballots since 1978 with recognition received by every lodge below Grand Lodge levelregardless of location Despite being smaller outside urban areas where Masonic activity takes place mostly online or through social media these clubs continue their support for Freemasonry even when their physical presence may have decreased
