The Navy has been in Marysville, Ohio since 1853. The first ship to dock here was the USS Constitution, which arrived on September 14th, 1853. The town was founded by General David Giles and his wife Hannah in 1817 as a trading post on the Scioto River. In 1821, the town became part of Portsmouth Township. In 1824, it became part of Marysville Township and was named for Mrs. Ann Mclntyre Powell (daughter of Governor John Mclntyre). Mrs. Powell donated land for a Town Hall and Schoolhouse in 1830. In 1840, the Township changed its name to Portsmouth when it merged with other townships in the county. The City of Portsmouth was founded in 1915 by Mayor Harry Wickersham and First Lady Florence Morrow-Wickersham after they divorced him. They donated 5 acres of land for the city which is now known as Point State Park Today’s Naval Shipyard began construction on this site in 1903 and is one of the largest naval shipyards in the world It originally processed vessels made out of wood but has since transitioned to making ships out of aluminum In 1933, President Franklin D Roosevelt gave America’s first live electric “tube car” ride from New York City to Washington Dc., using a special train built by Admiral Halsey This event also signaled America’s entry into World War II At that time, Marysville had a population of just 100 people Navy involvement began during World War I when Chief Petty Officer Samuel Sutter killed 6 German U-boats off Lake Erie while serving aboard USS Buffalo aboard then USS Tacoma On November 9th 1918 he received his Medal Of Honor from President Woodrow Wilson

The Constitution was launched on July 26, 1942, and served as part of the Pacific theater during the war. In 1945, she was decommissioned and sold to Peru.
Marysville is a town in Lorain County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,987 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Marysville was part of the Northwest Territory and was called "Newburgh" by the first settlers. In 1814, James Dennison named it after his mother-in-law, Mary Hill (1774–1836). A post office called Newburgh existed from 1824 to 1827. On December 12, 1830, a group of Methodist pioneers arrived in what is now Marysville from Erie County and established a cabin there. They named their settlement after Methodist preacher William Booth (1775–1854). Reverend Booth gave religious services here until his death in 1835. In 1840, John Cramer settled in what is now Marysville with his family and began operating a gristmill which he continued to operate until 1862 when it burned down. He also built a house which still stands on North High Street near the intersection of School Road and Huntingdon Avenue today. His son Julius later operated another gristmill here that operated until 1955 before it too burned down. This led to the founding of the union school district here in 1870 by local parents working together with government officials to give students a better education than they could get at home or at private schools outside of town - an important step forward for areas such as this one during those early days when much education was provided locally rather than via sententious books or oral traditions handed down through families like these ones had done for centuries before them! Residents would come out into the community for business meetings or social events held outdoors on square blocks bounded by high walls on three sides while music played inside the meeting room on weekdays served as an open air buffet lunch day each weekend! This type of small village governance model continued well into the 20th century with various groups coming together to form larger villages throughout central Ohio but ultimately departing due primarily to population growth rates becoming overwhelming versus ever-rising educational costs! Even so some excellent examples remain today including Modlin Heights Township in Athens County – home since 1957 of The Saturday Evening Post – one example per township across central Ohio thanks largely to efforts underway by various civic organizations including Rotary International! Owing largely to transportation improvements made during World War II along Interstate 80 between Cleveland and Toledo (the “Motor Road”), many farmers relocated or moved away from this corridor during that time because access became difficult if not impossible through dense forests just east/west of Marysville proper making production very challenging especially given global prices for crops being higher then they ever had been prewar! However even as production difficulties persisted many residents decided against selling land within sight or sound of Interstate 80 simply because doing so would have required moving again soon enough anyway!! One result was that more people ended up living HERE permanently than elsewhere within Lorain County !!

The town continued to grow steadily during the 1800s and into the early 21st century. A number of important events happened here including: - The founding of University Hill School in 1824 which offered education to children from poor families; - The opening of the first grocery store in Marysville in 1835 by Jabez Bowen; - The construction of Beaver Dam Road (now US 30) which connected Toledo with Cleveland; - Growth within Marysville itself led to an increase in population from 1,000 to 3,000 between 1840 and 1850; - The city's incorporation as Marysville on April 24, 1850; - Continued growth led to increased development such as grist mills (1851), foundries (1853), lumberyards (1857), hotels (1860), churches (1862), post office (1865) and other businesses including schools (1902).
Marysville is a town in the Aliquippa County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1814 by Nicholas McGowan and his wife Catherine. It was named for Mount Mary, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. In 1868, John Denny founded the town of Marysville Heights on land that he had bought from McGowan. The name change came about because of confusion with nearby Mount Mary Township which bore the same name but had no hills or settlements around it. In 1870, another local resident, James Hennepin bought part of what is now downtown Marysville from Denny and began to develop it as an area commercial center with several buildings including a courthouse and jail. The first school inMarysville was built in 1872 by Reverend Clement Janssen who also served as its first superintendent. In 1886, post office service began at what is now First National Bank there and a small grocery store followed soon thereafter. By 1890, North Central Ohio Railway had completed its line through town and several businesses opened up around it such as a bank (First National), insurance agency (National Life), cigar shop (Jimmie's Cigar Shop), shoe store (Nathan's Shoes) and livery stable (George Womack & Son). The Panic of 1907 caused economic ruin for many small towns during that period so little development took place until after World War I when downtown Marysville became known as "the business district." During this time new retailers started opening up such as Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney & Co., Macy's Department Store etc.; this gave rise to some controversy because these stores were not Actually based in town but often used city directories to list their addresses instead of giving them their own individual streetslots like most other retail businesses did back then. married women could get jobs at these stores by going out into bars or restaurants where they would be given tasks such as cleaning or stocking shelves; however some people felt this type of work created more problems than solutions since it interfered with families' ability to stay together while working outside the home which was already an issue during those days due to lack of social safety net programs then
