Marysville is a city in northern Ohio, United States. The population was 8,539 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lucas County. Marysville is located on the Cuyahoga River and has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen climate classification "Cfa"). The area that would become Marysville was first settled by families of German descent in 1795. In 1802, they named their settlement after Englishman Captain John Cook who had explored the area while exploring the Great Lakes region for Britain. In 1819, Ohio statehood was granted to Ohio, and since then Marysville has been an integral part of Ohio's history as its second capital. In 1912, Queen Victoria designated it as the summer home for her son Prince Albert and his consorts during his visit to America. On July 9, 1825, a tornado touched down near Mount Lebanon in this city; it killed six people and injured over 150 others. The destructive force of this twister caused extensive damage throughout downtown Marysville and along Main Street where several homes were destroyed including one built by James Ketchum which still stands today as a museum piece. When Indiana became a state in 1907 it added Lucas County to its boundaries making Marysville an even greater part of Indiana’s growing agricultural sector but also brought new residents with it who would start businesses in what were once empty neighborhoods such as North Park Boulevard and East Cleveland Road now known as Northtown Center Mall and Old Town Square Shopping Center respectively. This growth led to many houses being torn down to make way for larger developments such as First National Bank Tower which can be seen from Interstate 71 just south of town center across from Parkland Hospital on Exchange Avenue today known variously as First National Plaza or US-1/Ohio State Route 622 Suite 202 etc... .
