Marysville is a village in Summit County, Ohio, United States. The population was 521 at the 2000 census. It was part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area until it was re-incorporated as Marysville-Fremont in 2002. The Village of Marysville was platted in 1818 by Daniel Dennett and his brother Amos Dennett. The first post office at Marysville opened in 1819. The village was named for Mount Stroud (now Montague), Virginia, which stood near the village's eastern border. In 1825, Anna Pugh founded an academy in Marysville that became a leading high school for girls in Ohio and later for women throughout the Midwest. In 1829, John Copley established a flour mill on the Scioto River west of town and set up shop on Main Street. Fearing competition from mills run by Germans or Dutchmen operating on larger scales, Copley closed his mill in 1840 and moved it to nearby Prestonsburg to continue manufacture of flour and other products until his death two years later. In 1830, James Ladd settled along the Scioto River north of town and began making lumber into boards and caskets for state legislatures across Kentucky; he started what would become one of America’s largest furniture manufacturers—Ladd & Co.—in Marysville around 1840. In 1850–51 Alderwood Coal Company organized mining operations along several miles of creek valley between Mount Auburn Cemetery east of town (now part of Arlington Heights) and Whatcom Creek southeast of town; coal production increased rapidly from this location but ceased during World War I because water supplies were exhausted by industry . The Village had lost its status as an agricultural center when prohibition began although corn production did increase after repeal . By 1915 there were only 1 grocery store open & 3 modest dwellings among over 6K residents according to USGS census reports As recently as 1990 about half that number lived here with less than $10/year income

The town was named after one of their members,Mary Ann Weiser, who had come there as a young woman with her family. By 1800, Marysville had a small population and was only used for agricultural purposes. However, it quickly began to grow as a result of its natural resources and its location on the Great Lakes region. In 1827, the town became part of Ohio when that state was created out of parts of Kentucky and Indiana. In 1850, Marysville became one of the first towns in Ohio to be founded by Republicans. The town's growth continued through the years and by 1880 it had a population of over 10,000 people. Due to its importance within Ohio politics and economy, Marysville experienced some significant social changes during its time as an independent municipality. One such change came in 1892 when Mayor James Grafton moved the city's jail from downtown to what is now known as City Hall Square. This move helped fuel increased business activity in the town which led to more jobs and more revenue for local government coffers. It also allowed for easier access to education for citizens which helped contribute to their economic development over time. In addition to its role within Ohio politics and economy, Marysville has also been mentioned multiple times throughout history due its significance within Christianity. For example, one entry from 1895 mentions that "the great revival meeting held at [Marysville] on Sunday last raised $2200" which shows just how important this community felt during this period in Christianity's history.$
