The following year, a brigantine called HMS Highland reached Cleveland on her maiden voyage. In 1830, the steamer SS Clifton arrived in Cleveland with 475 passengers and cargo after crossing the Atlantic Ocean. In 1836, a schooner named Preble sank off Mansfield Beach while trying to load salt water supplies for shipment back home to Ohio. The wreck still lies at low tide near Brownsville Point State Park. Another Schooner-owned vessel, Westerly also sunk during this time off Mansfield Beach but her remains have not been found yet. In 1840, a brigantine called Constitution reached Cuyahoga Falls after sailing around Cape Horn. She brought over 2 million pounds of iron ore from mines in Minnesota and California that were being developed by early American entrepreneurs like James Kapp and Andrew Mellon. The clipper ships Phenix City (1841) and Niagara (1842) also made visits to Cuyahoga Falls during this time period; both vessels’ owners had organized an expedition led by captain Isaac Childs which sailed upriver from Buffalo Harbor on Lake Erie in order to explore potential shipping routes between downtown Cincinnati and points eastward including New York City via Lake Ontario- Georgian Bayou (now Superior). After reaching Toronto on July 4th of that year they tried again going upriver but ran into bad weather en route back down so they abandoned their attempt at navigation only returning safely to Buffalo Harbor on September 8th before {the} Niagara arrived.} In 1850, a steamship company called Ironton sent its ship America outfitted with sails and masts for exploration along the lower Ohio River valley looking for new shipping routes connecting Pittsburgh with Chicago through freeze-drying lakes located near Windsor Locks etc... America returned safely without incident in 1851! As more people traveled inland more opportunities arose for marine gift giving such as sending seafood items like lobster or crab claws directly from coastal towns such as Portsmouth or Norfolk Va., whereas earlier years it was difficult or impossible for someone living far away from any major harbor town or sea port to get those kinds of items delivered fresh onto their doorstep - let alone send them off overseas!
Maple Heights is a town in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,717 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous town in Stark County and the second most populous town in Ohio after Cleveland. The name of Maple Heights comes from a variant form of the word "maples." The first settlers to Maple Heights were Nicholas and his wife Mary (née Hines) and their children John, Nicholas Jr., and three sisters: Sarah, Lydia, and Martha. In 1814 Nicholas bought 1/4 acre (0.20 km²) of land from Capt. George Washington Payne for $10USD. On this tract were two small trees about 20 feet (6 m) tall that served as a landmark for navigation on the Maumee River until 1971 when they were replaced by an observation tower dedicated to veteran firefighters from Summit Township who fought during World War II In 1825 Rev. Timothy White organized what became known as First Methodist Episcopal Church in Maple Heights with Reverend James Smith as its first pastor The original church building was moved to its current location near present day Clinton Street in 1916 after it was destroyed by fire First Methodist Episcopal Church still meets today on Clinton Street corner of Danforth Avenue Reflecting growth over time, Maple Heights annexed other smaller townships including New Palestine in 1872-74 and Middleburg Heights in 1907-09 In 1960s Maple Heights experienced rapid growth with construction of Interstate 495 nearby which left little space for development inside the downtown core like present day During this period much of downtown property was sold off or redeveloped into high rises such as One Lakeshore Drive & Tower Place which now occupies much of that area east of I-475

Maple Heights is a city in and the county seat of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 103,922 at the 2010 census. Its name comes from Maple Leaf Township which was organized in 1836. The region that now includes Maple Heights was first settled by Native Americans who were the Creek Nation. In 1789, General George Washington's army burned down a hill near what is now Maple Heights to clear land for planting potatoes. The area became part of Cleveland after the Treaty of Paris ceded British America to the United States in 1821. The first settler in Maple Heights was Stephen Horsfall, who arrived in 1824 and built his home on what is now Fourth Street. A few years later, John Rolfe purchased land here and erected a mill on the Scioto River. By 1830, there were over 20 buildings and two mills in maple leaf township with a population of around 100 people. During this time, maple leaf township also included parts of today’s Medina and Solon townships as well as Appleton and Girardtown villages and hamlets east of Cleveland proper. In 1837, when Cleveland incorporated as an independent village, maple leaf township was annexed into Cleveland proper; however it continued to be called "Maple Leaf." Maple Heights is a census-designated place in the Balance Township of Athens County, Ohio, United States. The population was 669 at the 2010 census. It lies on the southern edge of Athens County and is northwest of Cleveland. The community was formed in 1851 when two families, the Harts and the Pritchetts, bought land from John Mellencamp for $2 per acre. The first store in town was built by Gershom Hart in 1852. In 1865, James Fenton started a gristmill which became one of the most important commercial businesses in town. The first school was established in 1870 by Mrs. Lavinia Rogers with 10 students and she taught until 1889 when it became a private school known as Harlan Academy. A new school building was constructed in 1903 and named after Mrs. Rogers' daughter NettieRogers who served as its first superintendent from 1906 to 1912; it continued to be used as a high school until 1957 when it became part of Athens Junior College District No. 1 under Ohio State Board of Education regulations The community experienced growth during World War II with an increase in manufacturing jobs due to wartime demand for fuel oil, rubber products, appliances and other items Maple Heights also has been home to many professional athletes including NFL players such as Ray Lewis (2001-2006) Michael Jordan (1996-2002), LeBron James (2003-2011) & Dwyane Wade (2009-2013).
