Mansfield is a city in and the county seat of Mansfield County, Ohio, United States. The population was 41,751 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. In 1840, the town had a population of 100 people and a millinery business operated until 1861. During World War I, Mansfield played an important role as a munitions depot. It also served as headquarters for General Ulysses S. Grant’s army during the war effort. After the war, Mansfields growth slowed but it did not stop until 1954 when it became one of 38 townships in Stark County effective that year under statehood laws amendments passed by Congress pursuant to the National School lunch Act of 1935。 The township has experienced rapid growth since then with over 1,000 residents now living within its boundaries
