The early history of artisan coffee in Mansfield, Ohio can be traced back to 1847. At that time, the town was known as "Milford", and the first café located there was called the Coffee House. The proprietor of the Coffee House, Ebenezer Fenton, started serving coffee from his home in 1798. In 1847, Fenton opened a second Café in what is now the downtown area of Mansfield. The business continued to operate until 1880 when it closed because of financial difficulties. The first Starbucks location opened in Columbus, Ohio in 1990. It was followed by another location in Mansfield in 1992. After that, espresso machines became increasingly popular and began being used at local cafes across the country. Mansfield is a city in the Muskingum Valley of southeastern Ohio, United States. The population was 26,808 at the 2010 census. Mansfield is the county seat of Muskingum County and the home to The First Methodist Church, one of America's most prominent Protestant denominations. Mansfield was founded in 1814 as part of thefolding out of land taken by purchase from Native Americans during the Northwest Ordinance process. It became a town on April 12, 1836, when it incorporated as part of Canton Township. On November 16, 1916, Mansfield became one of five townships in Stark County to be merged into that county; it remained an unincorporated community until its incorporation intoMuskingum County on January 1, 1925. The first settler in Mansfield was John Hays with his family on May 5th, 1814. He platted what would become Mansfield and named it after his native place - Hardeman County in Texas had been renamed Texas two years earlier due to a border dispute between Mexico and Texas over land purchased from Mexican cattle ranchers known as "the Comanches". Hays also donated land for a courthouse and schoolhouse which were built between 1830-1831 by David Rice and other early settlers; today's First Methodist Church was dedicated there on October 11th 1830. In 1836, Managers James Fenton and Ebenezer Goodrich decided to move their operations from Paulding Township (now Delaware) northward towards what would become Mansfield because they felt that more spacious conditions could be had there than south central Stark County where they resided at the time. This decision led to increased competition among township managers for space within their jurisdictions; within three years all but four municipalities in Stark COUNTY had merged or amalgamated with another municipality – this included MansFIELD! By 1840 only about 25% of present day Manseltield remained rural while 75% consisted of developed areas including residencesites for menagerie keepers along with mills that produced flour for local markets such as Dayton and Youngstown., At this point residents began referring to themselves rather simply as "townsfolk" or "folks." However much later many people still refer to themselves using these terms even if they live outside their original township boundaries! Mansfield is a small town in central Ohio, United States. The population was 5,872 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Mansfield-Logan Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first known settler in Mansfield was James Irvine, who arrived in 1788. In 1805, David Lloyd built a cabin on the Scioto River and named it after his father, Sir David Lloyd of Loughborough, England. The town's first school was founded in 1809 by Nicholas Weiland and teacher John French. In 1814, when the Ohio Territory was created from parts of Kentucky and Virginia, Mansfield became one of its initial settlements. Its early settlers were men who had come to make a new life in what was then an agricultural society: many were farmers or mechanics who married women from within the community. By 1830, there were over fifty families living here; seventy-five years later only six remain today! Mansfield experienced rapid growth during the late 19th century as dozens of new businesses opened up and residents began moving into the area for jobs in cities such as Cleveland and Cincinnati. In 1916, Mansfield got its own hospital; today it is home to The University Hospital System's largest hospital with patient counts totaling more than 35000 each year! During World War I (1914-18), Mansfield played an important role as a munitions manufacturing center due to its location on Lake Erie near Fort Wayne and other strategic sites around Ohio City. Mansfield was platted in 1814 by Captain James Montgomery and his family. It was named for General David Mansfield (1756-1821), an American general who served during the War of 1812 and as President of the United States from 1819 to 1825. The first town meeting was held on March 9, 1814. Captain Montgomery founded a school in Mansfield and it continued to operate until 1840. In 1870, the town became part of Fayette County when it was organized. The home of George Washington and John Adams is located in Mansfield and is now a museum housing many items related to their lives. Other famous residents include Ulysses S.
