Lyndhurst is a city in Findlay County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. Lyndhurst is the county seat of Findlay County. It is named after Colonel John Lyndhurst, who fought in the American Revolution and served as a brigadier general in the Continental Army. The first settler in what is now Lyndhurst was Nicholas McCormick, who arrived in 1792 on his way to found Cincinnati. The town was platted in 1817 by General James Finley and named for Colonel John Lyndhurst (1761-1837), an American Revolutionary War officer and brigadier general who participated at Saratoga and Yorktown. In 1824, Colonel John's son Eli helped plat the town again and renamed it "Lyndhurst." TheCity of Cleveland annexed Lyndhurst in 1907. During World War II, Lyndhurst became one of 81 townships located within Cleburne Township because that township had been divided into two parts along racial lines during the war: black residents were relocated to East Cleveland and white residents were relocated to West Cleveland. On October 20th 1948, when President Harry S Truman signed Executive Order 9982 which ordered all concentration camps closed; Lynghurst Township remained unincorporated despite being included within Cleburne Township because its citizens wanted to keep their civic entity separate from those living inside Camp Clyde which was unaffected by Executive Order 9982. On December 6th 1957, due to economic recession and lack of manufacturing jobs throughout America; many small businesses including five hundred people-owned laundromats- went out of business across America; nearly every family member took employment outside of homeraising children or going on long weekend trips away from home while parents did odd jobs until Armageddon came around September 5th 1958 when local newspapers announced plans by Mayor Ed Kappenstein (D) not only would they close all but 2200 menial positions with no replacements available but also offer employees raises starting at $13/hour effective January 1st 1959 effective retroactively through May 31st 1959 however this offer expired without any exceptions or notice given leading to widespread protests againstMayor Kappenstein led by Wayne Everson (D) with picketers outside City Hall July 29th 1959 until finally he resigned less than a week before his inauguration on August 7th 1959 becoming first African American mayor of Cleveland history . Following his inauguration Ed Kappenstein passed an ordinance creating labor union representation for all city employees beginning with street sweepers on November 4th 1960 however this measure failed agains council disapproval after angry demonstrations lasting several days . In 1978 former Mayor Ed Kappenstein gave up office after serving three terms following years whereupon Oakland Councilman Dan Quayle took over as mayoralty pro tem until 1980 when he won election as mayoralty himself upon winning a special election against incumbent Art Wolff . After leaving office Quayle founded Eastern Ohio University - now part of Case Western Reserve University - which occupies most if not all property once belonging to Lynnhurt Township although some land remains undeveloped within present day downtown Lyndhurst limits although eastern boundary still coincides with present day Civic Center Avenue eastward

Lyndhurst was a small town in Hardin County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,800 at the 2000 census. A post office operated in Lyndhurst from 1868 to 1925. Lyndhurst was founded by farmers John and Sarah Hammonds on a tract of land that they acquired in 1836. The hamlet had a Methodist church and blacksmith shop before it declined in popularity after the American Civil War. In the 1880s, developers began to build farms into the area around Lyndhurst and other small towns spread out across eastern Ohio as part of the "New East". In 1920, Wm Halsey Price built his mansion here and named it for himself. Price's father had been mayor of Cleveland and he became one of America's richest men through railroads and other investments. He died in 1928, leaving his fortune to his son Wm Halsey Price II. The younger Price continued building up parts of his empire until his death in 1996; by then he had produced over $2 billion worth of assets. After World War II ended, many people left Lyndhurst for jobs elsewhere in Ohio or Indiana because of economic hard times; however, a few families kept their homes and businesses alive until the early 1990s when they were forced to sell due to changes in zoning laws which limited how many houses could be built near highways without affecting property values. The last resident to live there died on October 15th 1998
