Lyndhurst is a small town in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Muncie metropolitan area. Lyndhurst is located on the southern edge of Trumbull County and about 18 miles (29 km) northwest of Cleveland. The first Europeans to visit Lyndhurst were French traders in 1682. The name "Lyndhurst" was given to it by James Caldwell, one of the early white settlers in that area. At that time there were no roads or trails through Trumbull and Ottawa Counties so wagon transportation was necessary to reach the new settlements. In 1798 when western Reserve became a part of Ohio, Lyndhurst became an important stop on the newly created road system between Akron and Cleveland. In 1827 Captain John Hays founded what would become Haysville on land he had purchased from Colonel John Smyth near present-day Lyndhurst village limits. By 1830 Haysville had grown into a thriving community with over 200 residents and two stores. That same year Captain Hays donated land east of his original homestead for a Methodist church which still stands today as Park Avenue Methodist Church - one of only two churches in Lyndhurst Village remaining from colonial times! Captain John Hays passed away in 1830 but his legacy will live on as traceable property donations continue to be made in recent years by individuals and businesses within our community! In 1892 Drury Brothers opened their doors as The Dining Car Company - now known as Fountain Place Diner - serving up some of the best food available anywhere! They are celebrating their 125th anniversary this year! Lyndhurst's rich history includes some very significant moments: * On November 4, 1798 , during the Northwest Indian War (the American Revolutionary Wars), Captain John Hays foundation donated lands east of his original home for a Methodist church which still stands today as Park Avenue Methodist Church - one of only two churches in Lyndhurst Village remaining from colonial times! This event marks Lyndhurst's incorporation into modern day Ohio ! * One hundred years later, Drury Brothers opened their doors as The Dining Car Company - now known as Fountain Place Diner - serving up some of the best food available anywhere! Lyndhurst is a village in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,717 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Youngstown–Warren–Muncy metropolitan area. Lyndhurst was founded in 1810 as a small community on the west side of the Scioto River. The first post office opened in 1811 and was called Howardstown. In 1824, it became Lyndhurst Township and incorporated as a village in 1829. The name change came about because many residents wanted to distance themselves from neighboring Howardstown which had been renamed Springboro after General John Fenton's army destroyed Fort Pitt in 1775. Lyndhurst experienced significant growth during the American Civil War due to its strategic location on both sides of the river between Union and Confederate forces. By 1863, it had become one of several villages within Union Territory controlled by General Ulysses S. Grant for military purposes; other villages were located at West Point on the Allegheny River, Mount Vernon on Staten Island, and Springfield Armory on Buffalo Bayou near Houston Texas). After Union victory over Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House in 1865, Lyndhurst went into receivership as most of Ohio did following the war's end. However, local businesses were able to reopen and continue operations thanks to government Reconstruction policies that gave citizens voting rights and land redistribution that helped rebuild many areas after war-time devastation ( Lynghurst Baptist Church being one such example). The village continued to thrive through the 1930s when air travel became more available; passengers would arrive at Lyndhurst Airport before taking flights out of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport where they would be met by tour guides who would take them around town until they reached their destination (i.e., homes or businesses). Continued growth followed World War II with increasing suburban development along Interstate 71; however, much like most postwar towns throughout central Ohio, Lyndhurst gradually lost population as families left for newer neighborhoods outside its borders since there weren't any job opportunities or major attractions nearby whilestill offering easy access to shopping malls across town from downtown Youngstown (where most jobs were located pre-war). In recent years though some economic resurgence has taken place with an increase in restaurant inspectionsmandatory under new zoning laws passed earlier this year which have led to increased business activity including construction projects surrounding Village Hall Square where multiple restaurants have reopened since last year alone (including two Indian restaurants) Despite this new prosperity however crime rates remain high especially given how open-knit these smaller towns are so Crime Stoppers provides assistance if anyone knows something suspicious happening within Village boundaries please contact them!
