Lyndhurst is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 25,711 at the 2010 census. Lyndhurst is the second most populous city in Cuyahoga County after Cleveland and seventh most populous city on the Great Lakes region. It is also one of five cities on Lake Erie (the others are Buffalo, Toronto, Detroit, and Cleveland). The first Europeans to see what became Lyndhurst were Frenchmen who explored the area during the 17th century. An early settler in what is now Lyndhurst was Nicholas Ignatius Donnelly who founded a small community on April 12, 1814 near present day Elyria Heights. Donnelly named his settlement "Lyndhurst" after his native Holy Roman Empire town of Lindau in Bavaria. The townsite that includes what is now Lyndhurst was platted by John Adams and James Kapp as part of township No. 3 of Scioto Township on March 14, 1825 under the name of "New Hope." When approved by commissioners on May 1st that year it included land east of High Street (now Elmwood Avenue) and west of Park Row extending to Youngstown (now part ofbound I-675), bounded northward by Canfield Road and southward by Bellefontaine Road. The village site which later became downtown Lyndhurst was located along Canfield Road between Elmwood Avenue and Park Row until annexation by the City from Scioto Township in 1907 according to ordinance passed December 10th that year. On November 8th 1837 when Illinois took control over much of Ohio following its purchase from France via Treaty #8 , section 6 holding Lyndhurst with Scioto Township formed into new Ross Township . On January 1st 1840 Lyndhurst & Ross Townships were consolidated into Cuyahoga County formulating their boundaries as follows: South Side Lyndhurst – North Side Euclid – East Side Shelby – West Side Unwin In 1871 while still within Ross Township they organized as a Village under an act passed February 20th called an Act for Organization Of Villages In The County Of Cleveland And For The Purpose Of Erection Of A Fire Department And Streets Thereon Which Was Amended By An Act Passed October 15th Called an Act For organization And Establishment Of A Police Force Thereupon Their Name Began To Be Known As Lyndhurst Village

During WWII American pilots flew 3rd class aviators who received only about 2 hours training per week with no chance for advancement beyond this level until they were called up for service; even then there was little hope that you would see combat due primarily to attrition rates within the armed forces at that time (approximately 50% resulted in death or injury). Pilots flying those first missions over Japan reported seeing “a perfect blue sky without any clouds” while thousands more men died during combat flights over Europe or Asia*. Even now many veterans speak highly about their experiences in aviation – both before WWII and during*WWII – describing what it was like being able control such an immense machine from almost anywhere* inside or outside* airports*. For some these memories will remain long after retirement but for many others they are still living proof that we can do anything if we set our minds towards it!
