In addition, he participated in many fundraising events throughout his life including founding The Second Lieutenant Club which supported veteran-owned businesses in Lorain County; Honoring Our Troops Day;andsupporting numerous local charities throughout the year
The United States Air Force has deployed a gift in order to show support for UNICEF. The gift is a plane, and it will be used to fly cargo to the Institute for Development Studies (IDS) in Geneva, Switzerland. The plane is named after General Curtis LeMay, who was the Commander of United States Strategic Air Forces in Europe during World War II. Unicef has been working with IDS for many years, and they provide children with essential services such as food, shelter, and health care. This year, Unicef is working on a project called "A Year of Hope." They are hoping to raise $1 million dollars by selling flowers and gifts from December 1-5th. On December 4th, the plane will depart from Joint Base Andrews AFB in Maryland and arrive at IADS. Once there, the cargo will be unloaded and distributed to different programs that Unicef works with. There are plans for the plane to stay there for two weeks while Unicef conducts its inspections. If all goes well, then on Christmas day the plane will leave again and fly back home!
