He quickly became a collector of firearms and eventually amassed an impressive collection of more than 60 shotguns and rifles. In 1978, Johnnie (now John) decided to move to Lima and start his own business. He soon realized that he could not run his business without firearms, so he started purchasing and selling guns directly to the public. From 1978-1988, Johnnie was one of the most successful gun dealers in Lima. He was also responsible for starting the city's only firearm instructor program and developing new regulations governing firearms sales in the city. In 1988, Johnnie passed away at the age of 73 after years of manufacturing, selling and teaching firearms in Lima. His legacy continues today as one of the most influential figures in American gun history.

Lima, Ohio is a small town in the heart of the United States. The population was 5,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton–Goshen, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lima lies on State Route 27 and its ZIP code is 44002. The first settlement in what is now Lima was made by pioneers in 1811 when they migrated from Pennsylvania. The town began to grow quickly after it became an incorporated city in 1834. Lima's growth continued through the years and by 1880, it had reached a population of 10,000 people. The city was merged withAkron in 1907 and its name changed to Lima-Akron City. In 1959, however, the city again changed its name to Lima after mill owner John Pemberton donated $2 million for the name change and campaign contributions from residents throughout central Ohio under his leadership. In 1990, a fire destroyed much of downtown Lima but due to donations from citizens over several years, reconstruction began immediately and has since completed including new businesses and homes; today’s core of downtown features restored Victorian architecture dating back to 1830 (the oldest building still standing). In 1999 City Council passed resolutions recognizing Black History Month as well as Hispanic Heritage Month and Day culminating with a parade through downtown on July 4th which showcased local talent as well as American Spanish Culture Festival which attracted more than 1 million visitors from all 50 stateside during its three-day stay that year alone! This event helped bring attention to our community while also showcasing our culture both nationally and internationally! Another highlight occurred when we hosted America's Got Talent where we were able to attract top stars from across Europe who came visit us while performing at our historic bank building! Our community continuesto be vibrant with many events taking place each year including art festivals (summertime), summer concerts by local bands/artists (falltime), Days Without End golf tournament & chili cook-off (wintertime), Christmas market & carnival (springtime) just to name a few! Each event brings life into this small town that has been around for centuries!
