There has been a military history in Lancaster, Ohio for over 150 years. The first military engagement in the area occurred on July 10, 1813 when General George Washington's army fought against the Creek Nation. The battle resulted in a victory for Washington and his army, and $5,000 in prizes was awarded to members of the victorious force. The first organized unit in Lancaster County was the Militia Company of Lancaster created on November 10, 1814. This militia company served as an individual security for government officials and other important individuals. On February 14, 1815, a town petitioned the General Court to become a city. The petition stated that "the inhabitants are perfectly satisfied with the present form ofgovernment existing among them." On May 15, 1816 – less than two months after voters had ratified City Charter – Lancaster voted to secede from Hamilton County and join what would become State of Ohio. Lancaster's incorporation as a city began on October 12th of that year. After becoming an official city, it became one of the most populous cities in Ohio with over 200 residents. On December 3rd1828 – during the inaugural year of Franklin D Roosevelt's presidency – Lancaster hosted presidential inauguration ceremonies at Trenton Hall which were televised nationally by CBS television network. In 1941-1942 American Legion Post No.-8461 was active near downtown Lancaster when Japanese citizens came into town to buy war supplies before their landing at Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941

Lancaster, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Lancaster County. The population was 21,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton, OH metropolitan statistical area. Lancaster was platted in 1814 by Matthias Funk and others as an outpost on the Scioto River for settlers seeking to skirt Native American hunting grounds near what is now Akron. By 1830, Lancaster had a full-time courthouse and a population of over 100 people. In 1837, John Cushman built Cushman's Mill on the north side of downtown; this mill became one of America's first textile mills and produced cotton shirts, pants, overalls, socks and other clothing items until it closed in 1929. In 1851, Lancaster incorporated as a city with a population of 507 people; it became an unincorporated village in 1907. In 1896–97 there was much debate about whether or not to build an electric light plant in Lancaster because residents were concerned aboutcarbon monoxide gas coming from electric lights being used near their homes; eventually it was decided that no such plant would be built because electricity wasn't available then to most households in Franklin County (including Lancaster). The post office opened at Lancaster on October 15th, 1898; its name changed to Franklinville on October 24th following incorporation into Franklin County. The first female postmaster general was Lois Ladd who served from 1903 until her retirement on July 1st 1915; she had been promoted to acting postmaster general due to her husband's death two months earlier after serving as his interim managing partner during his four years as governor of Ohio). A second electric light plant (the "Hills Electric Light Plant")opened at Brooke Street & Clairmont Avenue NW in 1951 making Lancaster one of only three cities nationwide with both types of electrical service - streetlights and power plants - which continued until 1984 when all cities switched over to single-phase power from transformers powered by oil! In 1957 local resident Floyd Denny set up shop down South Main Street starting what would become known as The Denny Store - one of America's earliest convenience store chains operating continuously today! And so began a long history Of Local Marketing & Shopping which continues To This Day !!

Lancaster has also been home to several professional sporting teams including the Cleveland Browns football team from 1936-2012, the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team from 1974-1996, and Pittsburgh Steelers football team from 1901-2006.
