The Kettering Police Department was founded on December 10, 1869. The department’s first officer, Hiram A. Hildebrandt, served from that date until his death in 1898. Captain John J. Condon was the first to serve as an Inspector with the department and he remained in that position for many years. In 1924 Captain Condon became the first Chief of Police of the city of Kettering. During his tenure, the kettering police department acquired its present-day structure and equipment. From its inception, the kettering police department has been a provider of law and order in local communities throughout Ohio and surrounding states.Throughout its history, the kettering police have responded to numerous calls for service including civil unrest, terrorism threats, traffic stops and more. Additionally, during times of emergency such as hurricanes or natural disasters, members of the kettering police force were called to offer their assistance outside their normal jurisdiction. Kettering is a town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 21,073 at the 2010 census. Kettering is the smallest of six towns in Hamilton County and one of the most rural in Ohio. It has a college-educated population and small businesses. The first permanent settler in what would become Kettering was Nicholas Iacopo who came to present day Kettering on July 4, 1792 with his family from Taverney, Ireland. The original settlement was along the Scioto River near modern day downtown Kettering. A post office called Kettering was established in 1813, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1903. The village of Kettering formed on December 15, 1836 when citizens of both villages voted to unite under one roof. Kettering's first school opened its doors on October 25th of that year as an academy for girls operated by Mrs Renehan & her daughters Emmalee (Bennett) & Sarah (Hutchinson). In 1840 the school became known as "the ketter School" after Reverend Nathaniel Ewing which continued to be used until 1893 when it became known as "the Ketter Normal School". By 1850 there were only 12 students at the school with 1 teacher and 3 trustees; however by 1860 there were 20 students with 2 teachers and 5 trustees – this growth continued into the 20th century reaching over 100 students by 1970! In 1872 a new library building replaced the old Academy building which housed both schools until 1898 when they were combined into one building which remains today as "the Lark Library" – making it one of oldest continuously serving academic institutions in Ohio! This increase in enrollment didn't stop at just educational institutions though; by 1870 there were also three stores located within walking distance of each other: Mrs Fenton’s Dry Goods Store (later renamed Piggly Wiggly), Mr Howland’s General Store and Mr Brown’s Furniture House! This early commercial growth helped contribute tokettering becoming an industrial center during its early years thanks to its location next to two major river crossings –one on the Scioto River and another on Middlebelt Road/US 421 bridge over Beaver Creek! Additionally important transportation links included: racing horses being transported across Beaver Creek before being raced downriver at Racetrack Park then being transported back upriver again for road races; local farmers shipping their produce directly from their fields all through central Ohio; local millers Manufacturing flour from wheat that had been ground down near where now stands FirstEnergy Stadium and finally local manufacturers manufacturing cars such as Studebaker automobiles out of rubber or plastic that required delivery right to their door! Today many small businesses still call kettering home including nail salons, hair stylists etc., but many larger companies have moved away such as Ford Motor Company moving production out of town altogether while Allstate Insurance has shifted much of their operations eastward into Cincinnati . However even these large responses cannot obscured how unique kettering truly is - feeling like you are living history rather than just living among others!

Kettering is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the border of Clermont and Lucas counties. As of the 2010 census, Kettering had a population of 43,711. The city was founded in 1824 by Noah Morse and his family as a small settlement on the Scioto River. In 1850, it became a town and in 1871 it became a city when General David Dixon renamed it after himself. The city experienced significant growth during World War II due to its manufacturing base, which included shipbuilding and aircraft production; however, since then the economy has declined. In 2000, Kettering lost its status as an independent city to Lima Township because of its lack of cultural heritage and support for local businesses compared to Lima Township's larger population and higher tax rate. Kettering's history can be traced back to 1824 when Noah Morse founded the small settlement on the Scioto River adjacent to present-day Kettering Village (now part of Lima Township). The name "Kettering" was first used in 1792 when John Winthrop settled there with his family; he named it for his ancestor Christopherketter who had come from England two years before. By 1800, some 50 people lived in what is now Kettering Village; they were farmers who raised corn, beans, horses and cattle. They built their homes out of logs or earth dug up from under the river bed where they fished for clams or caught fish with spears made from oaken skewers found along the banks. By 1830s most residents were also quarrying stone for use in building products such as bricks and mortar; at that time only three men worked in this industry full-time! In 1825 following General David Dixon's orders James Kapp bought 10 acres (40 hectares) northwest of present-day Kettering Village from George Clements for $1 per acre plus interest payable every year until sold at public auction: this area would become known as "The Kapp Domain". At this time most settlers practicing subsistence farming either raised corn or beans on their land or took advantage of hunting opportunities near riverside settlements like Dayton (then called Muskingum County) or Springfield (then called Trumbull County). Hunting slowed down around 1840 due to overhunting by white settlers but resumed around 1860 after European American traders reopened relations with Native Americans following campaigns led by Ulysses S Grant during the Mexican–American War (1846–48). As more families moved into kettered territory – including some who arrived between 1830s and 1840 – better soils began to develop while remaining thinly populated due to floods that occurred annually due to heavy rains upstream along both Mahoning Creek and Scioto River watersheds [1]. There were occasional raids by Native Americans but these generally resulted in few casualties among early settler community members other than theft/damage done while raiding Indian campsites ([2]). In 1850 Charles Littlefield opened a tannery near modern day Wilsonstown just east of present day Painesville Rd., making him one of first tanneries west of Ohio!. After Littlefield’s death his son Elijah continued production until about 1870 according to records kept by village trustees [3]. When General David Dixon renamed kettered City after himself on November 12th 1850 all nonresidential property within limits established by United States Commissioners remained unincorporated within City limits subject only to laws enacted by City Council under direction & veto power cfPreamble §5a(a)(ii)]. Kettering was founded in 1795 by Samuel Kettering, a Revolutionary War soldier and entrepreneur. The city became a manufacturing center after the area became available for farming following the construction of the Erie Canal. In 1814, Kettering acquired land to form the town of Dayton. In 1836, Dayton merged with Kettering to form the present-day city of Dayton.
