The Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) in Newport, Rhode Island is the repository for naval history in the United States. NHHC’s collection of ship models and photographs dating back to 1775 includes a model of the USS Constitution. The Constitution was first built by Hull Brothers & Co., Inc., a shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1795-96 as part of the Navy’s entry into World War II. In addition to their model of the Constitution, Hull Brothers also manufactured a number of other vessels including frigates (1796-1801), sloops (1802-1806), schooners (1807-1810), monitors ( 1811- 1816), and avisos ( 1820). In 1907, Hull Brothers founded Nautical Industries Corporation which became one of America’s leading naval manufacturers. From its origins as an independent company until 1912 when it merged with John Fitch & Sons Company, Nautical Industries Corporation was one of America’s most successful maritime companies. During World War II, Nautical Industries Corporation produced torpedoes, minesweepers, submarines and aircraft carriers. After the war ended there were several mergers and acquisitions culminating with the incorporation of Brownells Incorporated into NHHC on October 1st 1969. Brownells Incorporated became one of America’s leading military hardware retailers. One significant project that Brownells undertook during this time was developing plans for an amphibious assault vehicle known as “Huey” which would serve as ground support for American troops fighting ashore during Operation Neptune Spear on December 5th 1944 at Kwajalein Atoll. Plans for “Huey” were initiated by Rear Admiral James Halsey who served as Commander Amphibious Forces Pacific Fleet from 1945 until his death in 1957. Lieutenant General Holland Mises played a major role in developing both plans and implementing them on Okinawa Bay where he served from 1951 until his retirement from service in 1970. The deployment preparations for “Huey” led to increased activity at Naval Base Guam which intensified after reactor problems delayed shipment of replacement parts to Hawaii following Typhoon Bopha on August 15th 1946 . As Commander Fifth Marine Division IGHQ aboard Guam during that time LtGen Holland Mises supervised all aspects related to marine forces engaged ashore while also providing leadership within Headquarters Marines Corps.. Huey operations commenced November 16th 1945 under heavy enemy fire resulting ultimately in two Army dead along with nineteen Japanese killed or captured

Navy gifts have been a part of Kettering, Ohio history for many years. The navy has come to be known as the unofficial holiday in town and people often give navy gifts during this time.
Kettering is a city in the northwestern part of Ohio, United States. The population was 30,871 at the 2010 census. Kettering is located in the Maumee Valley and is bordered to the north by Licking County and to the east by Union County. The city straddles both bank of the Muskingum River. It was founded in 1815 as a station on the National Road between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. In 1827, it became a town when it absorbed part of neighbouring Scioto Township. The town proper was abolished in 1868 when it amalgamated with other towns in Union County to form Kettering Township again. In 1958, Kettering annexed what were then rural portions of Union and Licking counties to become its own municipality; this annexation has never been approved by either government body due to opposition from residents who consider those areas an integral part of their community since beforekettering's incorporation into municipal status. The first settler arrived in what is now Kettering on October 7, 1815 following a group of loyalist refugees from British America under General James Wilkinson's command during the War for Independence against Great Britain. At that time, much of what is now downtown Kettering had not yet been surveyed or developed as a village because there was no road connecting it to anything else outside of punxsutawney (now Erie) or Versailles (now Dayton). One account claims that General Wilkinson ordered his men not to fire upon any Indian villages they came across while surveying their new land, as "he would rather they should be destroyed than converted". A two-story log cabin made out of hewn logs stood where present day First Baptist Church stands today on North Market Street just east of I-75 exit number 3B near milepost 304 (). For many years there were only rumors about where this house once sat - untillocal historian Dr Gary Cavanaugh finally located an early map which included mention of "that old log cabin" on pages 8 & 9of his book "Kettering: A History." Unfortunately for all involved, this map also included information about another structure adjoining this one - probably home #2 which burned down around 1898 according to local lore... However even if true (and considering that prominent local KETTERERER resident Civil War general Ambrose Burnside actually resided at nearby Mount Carmel), this still does not explain why no one ever noticed these facts up until that point... What did happen? Renowned historian Dr Gary Cavanaugh recently solved that mystery! 1) According to legend , after General James Wilkinson took control over much western Ohio during the War for Independence he decided against giving Easton (later known as Maumee) away to Pennsylvania because he wanted more land development within his own borders instead.. He persuaded some key members of his army including Colonel John Silliman and Major George ArmstrongOhio State Archives photo 2) Around late1817 or1818 somebody living near present day Second Baptist Church built themselves a small cabin out front using parts salvaged from carpenter shop next door which caught fire soon afterwards according as documentation found at Ohio State Archives photo

Kettering is a small town in the Dayton, Ohio area. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Canton–Muncie Combined Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1827 by General David Dixon and his wife, Lucy. In 1837, Kettering became part of the new Grant County when it was created from parts of Delaware and Montgomery Counties. The first courthouse in Kettering was built in 1840. In 1850, kettering had a population of 209 residents and three stores. The town prospered until the American Civil War began in 1861. After the war, kettering lost much of its business and population due to Prohibition raids by the United States government. By 1920, kettering had a total population of 756 residents and eleven businesses. In 1925, Kettering became one of fifteen townships within Summit County to become self-governing under the provisions of Summit County Self-govt Act No.. 559 (25 U .S.. C .. § 2702). On October 8th 1925, Kettering's first election as an autonomous township took place with twenty-six ballots cast; nineteen men were elected to serve two year terms on a four-member board which met biennially; seven women were also elected to serve on a similar board for one year each after demonstrate their eligibility through testimony at hearings held before county commissioners chaired by Mr.. J..H . Parker; Mrs.. Aileen Mclntyre resigned from her public office after successfully contesting her seat against Mrs... Fanchon McNaughtan who also received over sixty percent vote counted; finally Mrs.... Wm..... Stimpson won re-election with forty six percent majority over challenger James Peele who received only thirty five percent
