Kent, Ohio is an unincorporated community in the Sandusky County region of central Ohio. The population was 5,504 at the 2000 census. It lies east of I-71 and south of US-23 and it is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton metropolitan area. The first settlement in what is now Kent was near the current site of downtown in 1814 when farmers turned up the anthracite coal seam in what is now Sandusky County. The town began to form around this time with a few small stores, a post office, two churches, a school and a couple of outhouses. By 1870, there were over 100 people living in town. In 1881, the town had a church and four stores but by 1890 all that remained were three stores and one schoolhouse. In 1902, Kent merged with neighbouring village Clinton to become one large village which continued to grow until 1961 when it lost its municipality status due to state budget cuts. In 2007 it regained its municipal status as part of an effort to revive the town's economy which has resulted in new businesses opening up and more residents moving into the community since then. Today, Kent remains a small hamlet with many properties still intact from back when it was just one village consisting mostly of farmlands and woods with only two or three buildings remaining from those days. There are several businesses open within walking distance including restaurants and night clubs as well as antique shops located along I-71 which make for easy access to all that Kent has to offer during any given day or evening!

Kent, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and is the county seat of Trumbull County. The population was 21,924 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town located on the southern edge of Trumbull County was first settled in 1788 as Clinton Township by two brothers, Hercules and David Clinton. In 1802, it became part of the newly created Trumbull County and its first sheriff was Elijah Woodbury. The town's name originated with an event that took place there on May 5, 1800 when General Washington arrived in person to establish his new capital at Philadelphia following his victory over France at Yorktownthe last major battle in American history before independence was declared on November 3, 1783. When Congress convened to ratify this new nation, they elected George Washington as their first president and chose Trumbull County as their new government center because it had a population of over 10,000 people—a record for any county in America at that time. The townships within Trumbull County were organized into townships until 1913 when all but one township (Clinton) were annexed by neighboring Cuyahoga Falls Township which formed the present-day Cleveland metropolitan area

In 1834, Kent became part of the new United States. It experienced rapid growth during the turn of the century, thanks to its location on the great American road system. By 1920, Kent had reached its peak as a commercial and manufacturing center. However, during World War II, Kent's economy suffered due to military production in nearby Toledo.
