WCR continued to roast its own beans until 1984 when it merged with another large coffee company name- Harpoon Incorporated- creating what is now known as Harpoon Coffee Company LLC. Ironton is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Butler County. The population was 49,531 at the 2010 census. Ironton is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. It is one of five cities in Butler County that are included in the Cleveland-Akron-Mentor Combined Statistical Area (CSA). Ironton was founded as an agricultural village on a bend in the Miami River by Captain John Fenton and his family in 1814. By 1830, it had become an important manufacturing center for shoes and leather products, with mills built on both sides of the river near what is now Union Street. The city's growth continued until World War II when its industrial production collapsed due to competition from German industry and other countries' war production quotas. Afterward, Ironton experienced a period of renaissance as a cultural destination, becoming home to many large-scale arts events and hosting several NCAA Division I football bowl games during the 1990s and 2000s. In recent years, however, Ironton has seen another significant growth trend: apartment development. The current incarnation of downtown Ironton began to take shape after developers bought land east of High School Road in 1997 and developed it into what is now known as Pioneer Square Center – an urban renewal project that saw new restaurants, bars and other businesses opened up within walking distance of most residents while also creating a lively environment full of art galleries, theaters and other entertainment venues. Ironton is a small town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Middletown–Zelienople, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Ironton was founded in 1811 by Nicholas Ironton and his family. In 1830, Ironton became the capital of Ohio Territory. Ironton is located on the old route of the Miami and Erie Railroad. The first settler in what would become Ironton was Nicholas Ironton, who arrived in 1811 from England with his family. He built a cabin on what would become Main Street and named it after himself – Nicholasville. In 1830, when Ohio Territorial Governor John Sevier moved the capital from Philadelphia to Columbus, he decided that Ottawa County should have its own government separate from that of Scioto and Trumbull counties. So Sevier called a meeting to select a new county seat for Ottawa County and picked Ironton as its choice. In 1819-20, Nicholas Ironton donated land to build an academy which would eventually become Butler University; he also endowed $10 000 towards building this university according to an agreement between him and trustees of Butler College (later Butler University). Irontontown was laid out in 1827 by Revs Josiah Shaw and Jno Pemberton while they were serving as surveyors for Lucas County under postmaster general James Kappeler’s direction. When Kappeler died suddenly one year later (1828), Pemberton took over his responsibilities as surveyor for Lucas County until Shaw could be appointed permanently as such in 1829 by then governor David Ralston II upon recommendation of General Assemblyman George Armstrong Jr., who served as governor from 1830-33 under President Andrew Jackson Thereafter Shaw continued acting intermittently as Surveyor until 1840 when he finally retired due to age – having reached 95 years old at the time! That same year saw construction begin on what would eventually become First Presbyterian Church whose cornerstone was laid on July 21st of that year . Construction proceeded rapidly thereafter with groundbreaking taking place every week during February & March through October 1840 with services starting on November 15th !
