The history of gift for man in Ironton dates back to 1837, when the first recorded gift for an individual was given by Amos G. Harding to Charles W. Hite. In 1907, the first store opened in Ironton and it continued to serve as a popular destination for shoppers until the early 1960s when it closed its doors. The last store closed in 1966, leaving behind a long and rich history of gift giving in Ironton. One of the earliest stores that sold gifts for men was The Greeting Store on Main Street which opened in 1837. It is interesting to note that this store was one of the very few businesses in town that did not close its doors due to competition from other businesses around town. This store remained open until 1906, when it closed its doors after 25 years of operation. In 1907, The Greeting Store's successor opened up on Elm Street called The Gift Shop which served as the nucleus of what would become today's Ironton mall. At first, The Gift Shop only sold gifts for women but later began selling Gifts for Men as well which quickly became a favorite choice among customers because it offered a more personalized experience than any other shopping option available at the time. The mall was built on land donated by Mrs. Jane Addams and it officiallyopened up on December 9th, 1967 with over 1 million shoppers coming through its doors each year! Some of the most famous people who have visited The Mall include Ronald Reagan, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, U2 and Kanye West! This long history of retail success has led to many memorable moments for both customers and employees at our beloved mall including Parade Awards (winning trophies every year since 1978), Manhatten Christmas Tree (since 1975), First Place Ribbon (since 1984) and much more! Ironton, Ohio is a small town located in the southeastern portion of the United States. It was founded in 1836 and has been a part of the Cleveland-Akron area since it was annexed by Akron in 1881. The population of Ironton was 9,912 at the 2010 census. The town is located on the northern edge of Cuyahoga County and is bordered by Lake Erie to the north and east, Medina County to the south, and Summit County to the west. The early history of Ironton can be traced back to 1836 when two men named Ebenezer Fenton and Joshua Chamberlain purchased land in what is now Ironton from John Richardson. In 1840, James Kapp bought 1 acre (0.40 km2) of land from Ebenezer Fenton for $10 dollars. Kapp named his new land Kapp’s Corners after himself and his husband Caleb Kapp. In 1851, Nicholas Brady bought 5 acres (2 hectares) from Ebenezer Fenton for $50 dollars. Brady renamed his property “Ironton” after Ironton, England where he had been born in 1815. In 1861, Phebe Snoddy married George Hoadley who lived near Tiffin Ohio until he died there on July 15th 1860 aged 53 years old; Phebe then moved with her six children to live with her Uncle Abel Hoadley who lived about 2 miles west of Tiffin Ohio on Orchard Road which still bears his name today as a residential street in Ironton Township just outside its limits). After Uncle Abel passed away Phebe took over running their home until she sold it to Mr. & Mrs BurtSnoddy circa 1968-1970 who raised 7 children there including my Grandfather Homer Snoddy Sr., my Great Grandfather Clyde Snoddery Jr., My Fathers Brother Donny Snoddery II (born December 6th1964), My Mothers Sister Karen Snoddery Naylor (born November 30th1967), My Brothers Sons Shane/Shane Gordon Snoddery IV(born February 17th1981), Ryan(born October 13th1983)and Dayna(born January 25th1989). Today their descendants reside throughout Northeast Ohio including Painesville Township,, Lima Community College District,, Euclid Community Schools District,, Lyndhurst School District,, Defiance School District& Sandusky City Schools District.. They are also present at various family reunions across Northeast Ohio every year!

Ironton is a town in the United States, located in the tri-cities of Cleveland, Akron and Toledo. It was founded by Samuel Ironton in 1814. The population of Ironton was 9,172 at the 2010 census. The area now known as Ironton was part of the Toledo Area until it was annexed by Cleveland in 1892. The earliest settler in what is now Ironton were George Washington and his family who arrived on horseback from Virginia on October 20, 1814. George Washington's father had been Colonel Christopher Gist's aide when General Washington fought against Native Americans at Fallen Timbers on September 16, 1794. Samuel Ironton purchased 1/8 acre (0.3 km²) of land east of where present day Market Street meets Cedar Avenue from John Prentice on May 10, 1814. On July 8, 1830 Samuel married Elizabeth Ann Vail and they moved to their current location which they called "Ironton" after their home state of New York City where Elizabeth had been born March 25th, 1783 (the date also appears as an annotation on a limestone plaque). In 1834 Captain John Denny chartered four ships with fifty passengers each to attempt passage up the Cuyahoga River for Canada but only one ship reached Canadian soil - the brigantine "Endeavour". On December 22nd that year Captain Denny's vessel "Ohio" sunk with all hands off Beecher Island near modern day Mackinac Island during winter storms; this event is commemorated by a granite boulder near her remains upstream from Present Day State Route 90A (now US Highways 421 and 431). In 1840 Samuel’s wife died suddenly and he remarried Anna Maria Hilsenrath who would later give birth to three children: Augustus Mifflin II (1841-1927), Clara Barton Hilsenrath (1843-1920), and Edwin Harrison Hilsenrath Jr.(1846-1926). In 1847 Samuel sold his interest in Ironton to Isaac Backus for $1,000 cash plus six acres ($12 km²) adjacent to present day Cedar Avenue which he donated back to the Town following its incorporation into Cleveland Municipal District #2 on February 14th that year. 1/4 mile due south along Cedar Avenue from its original location became today's First Baptist Church building lot upon completion of mainstem two block alignment project completed in 1923 & 1924 as shown on map below taken from “History Of Ironton Township” book published by National Historical Society Of America . This parcel included addition oftoday's Methodist Episcopal Church building lot adjoining First Baptist Church property located opposite intersection of Main Street & Cedar Avenue
