In 1836, when Andrew Johnson became President of America following his victory in the United States presidential election that year, he decided to move the seat of government from Philadelphia to Washington D.C., due to financial reasons related to newly acquired Louisiana Purchase (1803). However, Congress never ratified this decision and Johnson continued to keep control of Hudsonsburg until 1841 when he moved it again—this time to Cincinnati – within one year of taking office as president! Although Buffalo was considered an important economic center during this time period because it served as a transportation hub between eastern New York City and points west through the Great Lakes region (the fur trade being key), Hudson remained primarily an agricultural community until well into the twentieth century thanks largely to its fertile soil and numerous water resources – both essential for farming operations but also necessary for industrial growth during this era! Hudson, Ohio is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Cuyahoga County. The population was estimated to be 28,623 as of 2017,[1] making it one of the most populous towns in Ohio. Hudson is located on the southern border of Cleveland and is bordered by Lake Erie to the east and west, and by Sandusky County to the north. The town was founded in 1814 by settlers from New York City who were seeking a place to sell their potatoes that they had been cultivating in Canada.[2] The first store opened in 1816. The town became an important commercial center during the Gilded Age, with its businesses including two banks, three shipyards, eight hotels/motels and twelve printing presses. In 1916, Hudson was incorporated as a city. In 1937, Hudson became part of the newly formed Cleveland-Akron metropolitan area and has grown ever since becoming one of its largest municipalities with over 100 000 residents.[3][4] As a result of economic growth and suburbanization within Greater Cleveland over recent decades, many people have moved out into Hudson's core areas – such as downtown – while still remaining connected through various forms of transportation (including carspooling) to their jobs outside city limits.
The first settler in Hudson was Nicholas de la Salle, who arrived in 1638. He built the first permanent structure on the site, a cabin called Fort Christina. The following year, he married Frances Yates and together they started to cultivate land. In 1641, de la Salle founded the town of Hudson on the east bank of the river. The town grew rapidly and by 1651 had a population of over 100 people. It was renamed Albany in 1796 after George Washington's State capital in Virginia.
