Huber Heights is a small town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,993 at the 2010 census. Huber Heights is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Huber Heights was founded by German immigrants in 1825 and named for Johann Friedrich Huber, a member of the Ohio General Assembly from Preble County (now Liberty Township), which included Huber Heights. A post office called Huber Heights was established in 1829, and remained in operation until 1907. The first store in Huber Heights opened on Main Street in 1829. The store operated for three years before being closed due to low sales. In 1830, John Sennett began operating a gristmill on Old Hwy 71 near present-day Northgate Center Drive. By 1840, mills had been built on both sides of Main Street between Third and Fourth Streets; these were known as the "Four Mills." The millinery industry became important to Huber Heights after it was discovered that local women could produce finer quality cloth than men could. In 1847, Jens Hoffmann started manufacturing cigars at his home on Northgate Center Drive; cigars continued to be manufactured there until 1916. In 1850, David Price started operating a druggist shop on Main Street; this business operated until 1901. Price also became involved with agricultural production; he acquired land around present-day Columbo Road and developed it into what is now Price Field State Park。 In 1861, John Fenton opened a grocery store on High School Avenue.; this store continued operations until 1972 In 1865–66 plans were made to build a schoolhouse on West First Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Streets; however the project did not progress beyond planning stages due to lack of funds (). Huber Heights is a town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,512 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area. The first settlement in Huber Heights was established in 1812 by John Hobert and his family. Huber Heights was named for David Humphrey, a settler from England who came to America in 1814. In 1836, the township was organized, and it included the current communities of Huber Heights Village and Crest Hill. On July 10, 1956, it merged with neighboring towns of Bedford Township and Mentor Township to form Medina County. The new county had an area of . In 1957-58, Huber Heights began work on developing its own post office which would serve as a center for government services for all of Medina County. The idea for the post office originated with township president Marge Byers; she believed that if every community had its own post office, it would be more difficult to keep track of what was happening in each one. The first mail service to be delivered through the new post office opened on October 1, 1958. In 1966-67 when Huber Heights village absorbed Crest Hill into its municipality boundaries -Huberta Terrace became Huberta Drive -the name change became effective retroactive theretoon (and continued through both municipalities). In 1984-85 when parts of Bedford Township were annexed into Medina County - including portions of Crest Hill -the name change became effective retroactively theretoon also (and continues through both municipalities).
