Hilliard, Ohio is a town in Hancock County, Ohio, United States. The population was 8,787 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hancock County. The first settler in Hilliard was James Caldwell in 1792. In 1814, David Herndon founded what would become Hilliard as a Huntingdon Township in Hancock County. From 1815 to 1830, Hilliard was part of the unincorporated community of Utica. In 1830, it became an incorporated town under the name of Hilliard. In 1907, George Wertz established a cotton gin and mill on the Scioto River in what would become downtown Hilliard. The city grew rapidly after World War II because of its location near major industry and transportation hubs such as Cleveland and Toledo. The city's heyday ended around 1970 when manufacturing shifted from Hillsborough to other parts of Ohio and within minutes of downtown by 2000 had all but disappeared completely. Today Hilliard is a small town with few commercial or residential streets remaining outside of its original core area which includes most of downtown and much of the southern edge along the Scioto River valley where early mills were located before being replaced by larger factories over time

Hilliard, Ohio is a city in and the county seat of Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 16,814 at the 2010 census. Hilliard is part of the Cleveland–Akron metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Hilliard was Nicholas Rogers in 1811. The town was organized on November 3, 1824 by act of the General Assembly of Ohio as a village under the name "Hillsdale". On December 2, 1827, Hillsdale became a town charter with a population of 501. On May 6th 1829, Hillsdale became an upstanding village again with a population of 1125 people. In 1830 it changed its name to "Hilliard" after Major General John A. Hill who had been its military governor during the war for independence from Spain. After capitalizing on its new location and becoming one of America's leading cottonseed production regions by 1865, Hilliard experienced rapid growth which reached epidemic proportions due to lack of proper water supplies and housing developments which were not built until later in that century when cheap land became available. By 1920 Hilliard had become one of America's most diverse cities with over 100% Hispanic residents while white populations remained relatively small at around 25%. During World War II many sizeable factories were located in downtown Hilliard including such famous companies as Ford Motor Company and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company which led to high-volume manufacturing activity downtown which caused some problems for pedestrians and drivers who sometimes did not understand or care about traffic signs warning them about potential danger ahead on Elm Street because they thought only cars could go there! Today Hilliard is known for its art scene with several galleries and trendy restaurants like Parma Pigalle where live music takes center stage nightly; public transportation options include buses to Cleveland Hopkins Airport (which has direct flights into most major airports) or Long Beach airport across the street from downtown; as well as excellent shopping opportunities both within city limits as well as around Cleveland itself including some beautiful old neighborhoods such as Euclid Heights and Highland Park that are worth exploring on foot or bike if time allows
