After the war, many veterans returned home to start new lives. However, some soldiers continued to serve in various capacities through Reconstruction Period in America. In 1867, President Abraham Lincoln authorized an all-volunteer army and called for troops to be stationed throughout the country as part of his “New National Order” strategy. Hamilton is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the seat of Hamilton County. The population was 105,822 as of 2010, making it the largest city in Hamilton County and one of the fastest-growing counties in Ohio. It is also home to The University of Cincinnati, one of two main campuses for the Ohio State University system. The area that would become Hamilton was first settled by Native Americans in 1680. John Montgomery and his brothers built a small farm on what is now called Spring Street in 1792 after moving from Virginia. This initial development led to Hamilton's incorporation as a town on November 3, 1802. In 1806, Captain James Kapp set up shop at what is now known as Third and Vine Streets near where he had first landed onland from England with his crewmates during the Northwest Company's attempt to establish a permanent colony in North America. After several years serving as an apothecary and storekeeper for local settlers, Kapp became associated with George Washington when he moved into Cincinnati after becoming general officer commanding all American forces during the War of1812. Kapp was instrumental in helping create Hamilton's early economy by opening stores along Third Street between Vine and High streets soon afterward; these businesses continued until 1865 when they were replaced by banks which still operate today including One National Bank (now Wells Fargo) and First National Bank (later JPMorgan Chase). In addition to its traditional retail sector,Hamilton has also become well-known for its manufacturing base – notably Sperry Rand Corporation’s former Research Park – which continues to produce goods such as computers, aerospace parts and motorcycles despite having closed down many times since its heyday around 1960s through 2000s due to various economic conditions around the world but especially within Great Lakes region because there are few other major producers like this remaining within our borders outside Detroit etcetera etcetera etcetera In short: There have always been some form or another business operations taking place here - either big or small - whether it be manufacturing/trade/services or simply doing something that somebody needed done so somebody could make money off it! Hamilton, Ohio is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo metropolitan area. Hamilton was founded by John Hamilton and his family in 1792. The first store in Hamilton was built on the corner of West Third and Main Streets. In 1812, General David Harney burned all of the town's stores to the ground as punishment for helping President James K. Polk during the American Civil War. After years of reconstruction and growth through immigrant influx, Hamilton reached its peak around 1920 with a population of about 10,000 people. However, rapid economic development led to social unrest and decline beginning in the late 1970s; however, recent revitalization has brought renewed interest to the community and it has regained some vestige of its former glory since then!

It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The name "Hamilton" comes from James Hamilton, an American Revolutionary War general who fought for British America and was later appointed as commander-in-chief of Continental forces during the American Revolution. The first permanent settler in what would become Hamilton Township was John Stroud, who arrived in 1796 from Maryland. early Settlers on both sides of the river were menaced by Indians until white settlers brought firearms to protect themselves and their property. By 1800, some 200 families lived in what became Hamilton Township including 56 farmers and 30 artisans; all but two were Methodists or Baptists. The town of Athens began to form about 1800 when three men - David Dyer, Ebenezer Cooke and Solomon Northrup - bought land east of present day Main Street and founded a Methodist church on High Street (now Asylum Road). They named their new town after George Washington which they had seen while visiting England as captain of HMS Constitution (). The first store opened at this location on July 4, 1800 by Nicholas Biddle (). A post office called Athens opened on October 12th 1801 under charter from President James Ketchum () with Elisha Holmes serving as its first clerk (). When US Route 11 was routed through central Ohio in 1938, much road traffic passed through Athens due to its importance as a commercial center for local goods transported downriver by canalboats to Cincinnati(). This made it difficult for downtown Athens to maintain a high level of quality without more development along either side of I-480 (); however, over time downtown Athenians have worked hard to rebuilt their business district around First National Bank (), Walgreens Pharmacy (), State Farm Arena () and others (). It wasn’t until 1961 that Interstate 470was built across town linking Athens with Cincinnati via Union Terminal Bridge (). After years being bypassed by motorways near downtown Athens due to concerns about how such a large project would affect traffic patterns within their boundaries(), development along I-470 has finally startedto take off Downtown with mixed results: most notably Three Rivers Park (), attached directly to I-470 just east of downtown where there has been intense redevelopment efforts since then (. However,. many feel that lack thereof overall planning done throughout the entire city has caused problems such as parking availability near several major destinations/downtown areas)
